Forums - Nintendo Discussion - The Holy Trinity 2010?

A great group of games, I wonder what kind of new things they will try in them.

@Onyxmeth: That's not what Reggie said at E3 :P

Also I'm kinda talking more about the fans when I talk about the 'holy trinity' :P

Reggie can say whatever he wants. He knows what brings in the most money though, and Metroid is lucky to crack the top 10.

I was commenting more on your "Just how likely is it that Nintendo would release a fully fledged installment of each of their big three franchises in the same year?" statement, since Metroid is neither top three big as far as critical reviews go recently, nor is it anywhere near top selling, meaning the fans are choosing other titles like Smash Bros. and Mario Kart over it. I mean hey, I love metroid as much as the next guy, but outside of the one time Samus was back on top of the world (the original Metroid Prime) she has merely settled back into a secondary series for Nintendo.

Critically Metroid Prime was 2nd only to Ocarina of Time on game rankings. I'm not so sure about sales, but as far as quality it's definitely is one of their best. The top 3 on there used to be Ocarina of time, Galaxy, ad Prime, until GTAIV's BS reviews came in.

A few thoughts:

1. Wikipedia might be wrong, but according to them, EAD 5 was dissolved, and EAD 1 is working on Wii Fit Plus, which would bog down their resources for any potential mystery title. I'm inclined to believe them, since EAD 5 was created on an ad-hoc basis just to make Wii Fit.

2. Even if Intelligent Systems were making more than one Dragon Quest game, we know they have the capability to do more than one simultaneously

3. The mystery regarding HAL Labs' involvement is getting strange. Maybe they're providing fodder for Project Sora?

4. When was it ever explicitly stated that Other M would have 2D sections? I don't remember seeing or hearing it, i thought that was just a rumor that cropped up from basic observation of the trailer

5. I do think the Spring, Summer, Holiday lineup for the trinity in the order described (Mario, Metroid, Zelda) may happen, just because EAD 3 has had so long to work on their next console Zelda project.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Look at the highlighted section.

Haha sounds like 2007 all over again when it was Galaxy, Corruption, and Brawl. Trust me it would be nice to have all 3 spread around the year but it's not going to happen. More than likely Metroid has a summer release, Galaxy 2 with a late release, and Zelda in mid to late 2011. They'll cushion it with other releases though. 2010 is going to be a pretty big release year for Nintendo but all 3 in the same year would be ludacris. I mean those are 3 of the largest properties in gaming... almost a shot in the foot to release them all in the same year.

@ Zucas

Why would it be a shot in the foot? If they space them out by a matter of months, say March/July/November, there shouldn't be any problems. Or do you mean three huge titles in the same year will leave 2011/12 a little empty by comparison?

I can't wait 'till next year then. :/

wow puffy is such a fanboy, but i dig his passion. Great thread.

Next year will be awsome, even without Zelda. Actually, I'm more excited for Metroid than Zelda...call me crazy if you want :p

What about the 3rd party Trinity? lol
