Let's not forget the famous levelcap in Fallout 3 so you were more or less forced to get some DLC. Other than that bethesda rocks.

I wouldn't say you were forced into getting the broken steel add on.  The level cap of 20 worked just fine (I can't even tell a difference between 20 and 30 honestly)

Aren't they making a Wii project? I think I've heard something about that.

Bethesda is better at DLC NOW than before. For anyone who doesn't remember there was indeed a time where Oblivion charged $2 for a horse skin.

@xoj
see I remember when the worst thing that companies could do to console gaming was having a HDD(not having the HDD) would cause having patches and sometimes buggy games. Of course people now over look that and find it acceptable. The bar moves. I still find patch fixes unacceptable of my console games.

DLC is the best thing that could happen to gaming. I know it sounds odd, but it's true. When you buy the game(if it's a bought model) then it must be a whole package. No silly $2 for costume colours. The add on pack must be noticible or really cheap for something noticible. The exrta income for an easier to develop expansion(mind you more work into making DLC doable) brings in more profit for the game, extends the life of the game which in turn keeps your interest for the next game.

Bethesda has learned what makes good DLC. kudos to them.

should i blame microsoft them? Because they  start the lets move PC hardware to consoles things.

they were the ones that starting using HDD =(.

DLC would be good if they actually given a damn about making new contend, they just repack things, and make you unlock it and it's already on the disc and should be there for free.

They need to make an ES5 announcement!!!

Come on man, that is pretty much ridiculous.  You're talking of maybe .001% of all DLC out there.  99.999% of DLC is new and not on the disc.

Me too, but they don't come out with games too often. Fallout 3 took 4 years to develop.

DLC IS the worst thing. All it offers is something that the mod community could have easily made for a charge. Skins, New levels, few new weapons, are not worth any money. I mean take a look at Neverwinter Nights. THere's a community expansion for free that is 3.5 gigs of stuff on it. I kid you not, 3.5 gigs.

If you want more content make an expansion, and not one a commmunity can make. Diablo II's Lord of Destruction is still the best expansion out there when it comes to value.

Have you played any of Fallout 3's DLC?  Hopefully, since it is kind of the point of this thread.  EAch one of them is an expansion and for 10 bucks a piece they are well worth it.  Bethesda does DLC better than anybody.  I would gladly pay the 10 bucks for one of Bethesda's huge DLC's than download a crappy community made garbage.  You aren't going to find a mothership theta quality community made content.

I'm not saying that mods aren't awesome, because they are.  However, when you make DLC as awesome as Bethesda does and charge a respectable price (10 bucks) you can't complain.  I agree that most DLC sucks which is the point of this thread.  Why can't other developers be more like Bethesda when it comes to DLC?

Criterion did a great job with the Burnout Paradise DLC, think they easily deserve a mention :).

Dragon Age: Origins is apparently going to be VERY DLC focused too, some of the ideas they talked about were very interesting. Seems to be a model that best suits WRPG's :/.

LOL, this is one reason why Dragon Age: Origins is very near and dear to me :)
