I'm also interested in how VGChartz get numbers for regions which the big boys such as NPD and Chart Track do not track. Common sense simply tells me that if the big tracking companies do not track the smaller regions how does this website do it?

Ahh, there must be some trick to it!
Alright my friend, take a crack at it.
Its not like we break down the smaller regions into South Africa, South Korea, Saudi Arabia etc but once you have figures for the known regions, and have total shipped figures you can deduce where the rest of the content is going by tracking where these items have been released officially and recognizing that inventory levels are pretty standard worldwide.
When Sony announced PSP shipments hit 50m through January, an interview came out showing that ~4 million of those systems were shipped to Asia in countries outside Japan, and then breakdowns were given for Europe, the Americas and Japan in addition. During his last briefing to investors, Iwata said that 5% of Nintendo's Americas business is in South America and has been for years.
You can follow this stuff if you pay attention and fill in the dots fairly easily for hardware. Software is the bigger issue but few markets outside North America, Japan and Western Europe support alot of software purchases - most software is pirated.

The answer is simple, RPG; NPD and Chart Track choose to only cover certain regions.
The BuShA owns all!
