Forums - Sony - Updated EU release dates: GT5 and MAG out this year!

Should I book a funeral for MAG? That's some mighty death wish there. :P

One thing I don't understand: why a game should kill the other, if they are both good enough to deserve success, what's so wrong in buying one at its release and the other later if they happen to be released almost together?
Really, consumerism pushed so far to not buying a good product if it isn't the latest novelty anymore is a severe threat to quality, let's push this bad trend further and SW houses will start (*) chain releasing more and more shallow and purely eye-candy games, just like Paris Hilton constantly tries to inflict on the public her new totally irrelevant antics (**).

(*) OK, too optimistic, they already started, they'll simply do even worse
(**) OK again, a shallow, eye-candy game looks anyway better than that ugly, hook nosed b*tch

MW2 doesn't really look that great compared to other games that were released before, and are to be released.

I'm buyin MAG day one, gonna wait a bit for MW2, maybe get it when it's cheap. But hot damn releasing them at the same time >: / Now I'm wondering will there be enough MAG players online to fill up a 256 player match?

MAG release date has to be wrong, they are seriously stupid if it isn't.

Hey, Resistance 2 launched around the time World at War released, and it hardly "bombed"- it sold 450k first week and went on to hit a million within 7 weeks. It wouldn't have sold nearly that well if it launched in Q1.

It was the sequel to a game that sold 4 million copies and it was officially stated to be directly competing with Gears of War 2, hence the close release to it. I'm sure it was moderately profitable, but as far as reaching anywhere near expectations? Nope.

I really hope the date for MAG is wrong. An online only game with a strength in 256 player matches is going to need decent sales if they expect enough people to be on at once to fill up the matches to capacity. Obviously this won't be a problem at first, but 6-12 months later, it might become a bit hard to get a large scale match going.

You hit my fear spot on >.<

I will really like to play a demo though... like they did with Bad Company (and lag is to be expected for demos). I want to see how it controls, what the consequences are of having so many players (not necessarily with crowding, but with snipers and grenades),

I want to get a feel of the weapons, the grenades, the character's weight and speed, etc.

BC2 I at least know what I can expect since playing BC1 and its demo.
