Resistance 2 is sitting at 1.57m sold and didn't that release very close to COD:WAW? I know that had a large following from Resistance 1 but the PS3 has a larger instal base now (hopefully will be helped even more by a soon to be price cut) and MAG still has the fact that it's a PS3 exclusive and holiday sales to help it. I know MW2 is obviously going to take sales away from it but I'm still fairly confident MAG will do ok, assuming the game is actually any good of course. Given reasonable reviews I think MAG could still do around 1mil by the years end, which would be good for that title. I will be picking it up before MW2 anyway .

I hope MAG succeeds but the game is quite unpopular even among Sony fans. Most people are very sceptical.

The hype is just a fraction of games such as Heavenly Sword, Resistance or Infamous.

Different genres, but think Motorstorm 2 (or perhaps Warhawk, buy we lack complete sales for that game) when you try to imagine sales potential and anticipation for MAG. Motorstorm 2 didn't even reach 500,000 in it's first 10 weeks out. Same with SOCOM which is perhaps the best comparison to MAG's potential, released in Oct 2008 and also selling 500,000 before end of year.

This is best case scenario, 500k before end of year. Personally I believe in a huge flop and 250,000 copies. Actually I doubt a 2009 release date at all.

250k?  You can't be serious.  Even Wii titles like Zack & Wiki do better than that.  Hell, Haze tripled that.

I think MAG will perform similarly to Warhawk, though a bit better due to the much larger install base (plus they'll be able to market 256-man battles pretty well).  It'll sell pretty well for a few weeks, then it will drop off the map.  It'll develop a very hardcore playerbase that will be hard for new players to break into, so it's legs will be almost non-existent.muhc like Warhawk.

I expect 500k or so over the holidays, then nothing much after that.

Well, Im predicting low so I can get a happy surprise when it sells 500,000.

You know this is the Sony game I really hope will be successful. MAG and the Last Guardian.

GT5 Looks GODLY!!!!!!!!

MAG = Fail though.

R.I.P MAG =(

Fortunately that means I don't have to choose between MAG and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 anymore =)

Also, since I only read the first page of this thread, how legit is this?

Some site claiming they have reliable contacts.

Mags seems so uninteresting.4 vs 4 on Warcraft Dota and 16 vs 16 in Counter strike..
I think Mag is gonna be same as Fuel..

me three

I couldn't care less about modern warfare 2 the sheer size of MAG is a huge selling point for me.

sony seems to be very confident about mag if they are gonna release it 2 days later than mw2

yeah i dont really see MW2 improving over cod4 much if at all. i only played it for MP and i got bored of it after about 3 months. MAG really reminds me of battlefield 2 for the PC, which i've logged 400+ hours in :)

One thing I don't understand: why a game should kill the other, if they are both good enough to deserve success, what's so wrong in buying one at its release and the other later if they happen to be released almost together?
Really, consumerism pushed so far to not buying a good product if it isn't the latest novelty anymore is a severe threat to quality, let's push this bad trend further and SW houses will start (*) chain releasing more and more shallow and purely eye-candy games, just like Paris Hilton constantly tries to inflict on the public her new totally irrelevant antics (**).

(*) OK, too optimistic, they already started, they'll simply do even worse
(**) OK again, a shallow, eye-candy game looks anyway better than that ugly, hook nosed b*tch
