They shouldn't even bother to try and stop DS piracy anymore. Just write it off as any other expense.

Nah, if the company completely ignored piracy it would increase even further.

The fact that people know the Company is looking for pirates like these, and that there are harsh consequences, prevents a lot of more ethical people from pirating. While there will always be pirates, enforcing their policy will keep it contained.

It's kind of like robbery, if people knew the police didn't care if you robbed a store, I guarantee you robberies would skyrocket, but the fact that it is enforced keeps a lot of people at bay. Now while there will always be robbers, the law will keep it contained.

But there is no reasonable way to enforce piracy laws like there are with robbery laws. Least of all piracy on the portable systems.

On the other hand. Excepting it as a loss means that you spend less money on things like DRM and copy protection. Things that ultimately get bypasses anyway.

I guess what im saying is. In one case you are out the money that people who pirate MIGHT have paid you. In another case you are out that, and the money you spent trying to avoid the inevitable.

good for him

Oh no next they will be after Wii pirates

Then why is it that there are the same amount of people per capita addicted to drugs now as there were when they were legal?

Why have violent crimes like murder and armed robbery kept increasing in spite of there being laws against them?

Consoles owned: Saturn, Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, PSP, DS, PS3

I wish more pirates would see more jail time.

It's just that simple.
