Forums - Nintendo - Marvelous: "Nintendo needs to make more core games"

Hopefully games succeed for them, because they are willing to move on to the HD consoles if not.

Marvelous's games are not big sellers.Their games on the PS2, which also had a high userbase, did not sell particularly well. I think this trend will continue on the HD platforms because they tend to develop niche games. There's nothing wrong with that but those types of games do not pull in big numbers. Instead of changing platforms looking for the holy grail of gaming maybe Marvelous might actually start marketing their games or team up with a publisher to promote their games. It can be done.

If Nintendo is successful at the moment, it’s because they are good, and I cannot blame them for that. What we should do is try to be just as good.----Laurent Benadiba

"Nintendo should release more core titles on the wii"

Vs.

"Only Nintendo games sell on Nintendo Systems"

Why do developers try to put the blame other than themselves. If a game does not sell is the developer/publisher fault, not the consumer or the plartorm

Well, that's what they said. They have to find a way to make their games succeed, or else they are moving on.

Bets with Conegamer:

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.

Fullfilled Prophecies

Typical argument of circular logic. Whatever Nintendo's doing, some third party will complain about it.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

for nintendo consoles, nintendo creates it userbase.
thats being obvious from nintendo 64 days most of big games were nintendo.
with the exception of random rare games.
and it's the same for the wii, third party went HD, and nintendo it's pushing more casual games because they are cheaper to make and are selling more, plus they already released many of it core games, except a full wii zelda.
more of the wii userbase it's casual probably.

while this is true, for most of third party i don't see  how it affect marvelous their games are niche.

of course they won't sell.

It's not like that was Nintendo's fault.  The third parties all decded 'Hey, let's screw them over and jump to the new guy, instead!"

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

"Ok, girl's trapped in the elevator, and the power's off.  I swear, if a zombie comes around the next corner..."

From what I read, what the Marvelous guy said was not as blunt as what it is stated in the thread title.

And another thing, the Gamasutra guy's questions were really annoying, like he is trying to recruit Marvelous into abandoning Wii development. They just struck me as mutinous.

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

@Savior: "In those cases they are still weak, but I think it's really important to have more core titles such as Zelda and other titles from Nintendo to grow that core market area, so the whole market can grow as well."

That's what they said.

Nintendo needs to make core games so that we can complain about not being able to compete with them!

I feel bad for Marvelous, the type of games they make inheritantly don't sell heaps and if they go to the HD consoles the development costs will destroy them.

Why does it feel like maybe 3 people in this thread actually ready the article and not just the title?
