Forums - Nintendo - Where is DQ VI for DS? Do you still think it is coming?

Maybe it's ridiculous, but I'm waiting for FFV DS more. I've never played through FFV, you see.

As to DQVI.... I can wait. DQV is pretty long.

Well IDK why they switched with DQ VII, but if Level 5 won't make it, there's not too many other devs worth to make it with. Level 5 has pretty much international appeal, so there's really no reason to switch when they're working with such a sucessful company.

Level 5 is not a big name in the business.  It has little "appeal" international or otherwise.  It has one successful IP of its own and one which it has been borrowing from S-E.  The rest aren't quite up to par.

Level 5 is up-and-coming, but it's nowhere near there yet.  Heck, Level 5 has made fewer games than High Voltage Studio and people (stupidly) still manage to consider HVS to be "new" to the scene.

ArtePiazza has to be doing something right now, and DQVI has never been remade, so it would need the most work out of the trilogy.

It's still coming.

As for Dragon Quest X, am I the only one that hopes Square-Enix decides to part ways with Level 5? I would say that they are already getting ArtePiazza ready with these remakes, so hopefully they succeed L5 with the series.

I remember back in the old 16-bit days, and reading about the game; IIRC, it was far bigger than the previous, and was delayed repeatedly. It could be the size of the game that is taking so long to do the remake.

Veder Juda is hand crafted from EPIC FAIL, and is a 96% certified Looney; the other 4% is a work in progress.

A lot better than Armor Project or something.

Armour Project is Horii's company...they do work on every DQ. Level 5 is disposable.

Back on topic with DQ6, I want to see TOSE involved again. They seem to be pretty good at what they do. Sadly it seems they're hopping on the PS3 train.

Uh...Level 5 is turning into one of the biggest developers in Japan.  Its so big, its making a DS game with Miyazaki.  That's on a whole new level, pretty much on equal level with Kingdom Hearts (or beyond it) in potential for the Japanese market.  And of course, it has Dragon Quest, Professor Layton, Inazuma Eleven, White Knight Chronicles, etc.  Plus a lot of other games in the works.  The company basically has Japan wrapped around its finger.

Anyway, for when DQVI will come out, its probably going to be delayed in Japan until next year.  I'm guessing until March at the earliest.  More likely next May-July.  They are going to want to milk everything they can from DQIX, causing any new DQ title (aside from DQWars on DSi) to be delayed for quite a long time.  The only thing I could see that could change this is if they announced the new DQMonsters title that was rumored to be in production.  But even then, they might just delay that even further as a title to be released in between DQVI and DQX.

Whenever DQVI is released, it'll just be released.  Its most likely done already, since its being done by Artepiazza and using the same engine as IV and V.  The only thing that's up in the air is who is doing DQX.
