Forums - Nintendo - Where is DQ VI for DS? Do you still think it is coming?

The DS versions of DQ IV and V have been released, but it has been awhile since I've heard anything about the DS version of DQ VI.  Do you still think it is on its way?

Difficult to say actually. I never really doubted it until now, but it really seems a little strange that it hasn't released yet in Japan. But it could also be the case that they just wanted to wait until DQ IX is released and the hype is gone to keep the interest in the series alive in the meantime. I think we just have to wait and see, but I think the chances are still high it is coming.

Currently Playing: Skies of Arcadia Legends (GC), Dragon Quest IV (DS)

Last Game beaten: The Rub Rabbits(DS)

SE wants DQIX to take the spot now, they'll probably leave it for holidays if its already ready and let it revitalize DQIX sales, that or release it along side DQX.

I'd expect sometime next year. Can't have DQ wait for 2012 for another DQ!

Of course it's still happening. Gauranteed million seller. I think it's just taking awhile because DQ6 has never been remade before.

I think DQ X could release in late 2011...

Well the DS version took 3 years. I imagine the Wii version would struggle to make that.

I think there could've been some release conflicts with FF XIII though even if it's not the same team making it. Plus, Level 5 seems more free right now (of course that won't be the case in a while but...). After FF XIII all the big games they have to focus on are DQ X and KH3 pretty much (well, and Versus but that'll be done in 2010). But FF XIII should take a huge load off.

Not sure if I'm making sense lol, but I see it as possible. Plus, it would be more than 2 years assuming they work on it soon (if they haven't already started).

Well. Level 5 has tons of handheld titles and they just said they're working on a sequel to White Knight Chronicles. So, I don't think they're quite free just yet.

DQIX's battle system got a complete change in the middle of develop, kind of silly to assume the DQX is going to take as long without anything similar taking place.

Well, we should probably wait till we know more about it other than "it's on the Wii".

Looking back, we don't anything about it. In fact, we don't even know if Level 5 is developing it.

Considering they already have two successful DQ entries with Level 5, don't see why they'd switch. Plus Level 5 probably have Wii games in development anyway (like Inazuma Eleven Break. Expecting an official announcement at their Vision event on the 25th.) for experience.

Hopefully they show a trailer at TGS... :3 DQ VIII is pretty amazing, can't wait to see what they'll do with the Wii...

Well, SE switched developers after DQVII and that was the most successful DQ ever.
