graphics are not impressive.
man target graphics of the first trailers we so MSG4 even bit inferior, they should gotten better, not worse, that now looks worse than the demo I played some month ago with advent children complete.

looks like for nice characters models only uncharted 2,and metal gear solid 4 will have them this gen.

Does this really flipping matter? Those graphics are still AMAZING, I cannot see why you people are bitching over something like this. It will still be the best JRPG this gen people, calm down.

Wait for a new Persona game first before making those claims. I believe that I am not the only one on this board who believes Persona > FF.

For me Persona 3 and 4 > Final Fantasy XI, IX and XII.

But overall FF=Persona

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

Lol anyways I'll judge the graphics when i get my hands on it... if it really turns out like that then oh well...

FF13 Graphics Changes in Action

AP | August 2, 2009

Some of the graphical changes made by Square Enix to later builds of Final Fantasy XIII are becoming clear when released screenshots are studied and compared by fans.

Two released screenshots are almost identical but are from different builds, giving fans a look at changes made to the game engine. The question on the lips of many fans will be why these changes have been made.

The first screenshot here was released by Square Enix in August 2008, before Advent Children Complete shipped. This screenshot is from the older build of the game.

Before moving on to the next screen, make note of the floor textures, rocky sea and the hair of the characters.

The next image is a screen from the video featured on the exclusive Final Fantasy XIII footage found on the Western Advent Children Complete Disc - and a later build of the game than the screenshot above.

Take note again of the changes in the floor texture - in this newer build of the game it is a slightly more simple design. The sea is considerably less choppy and the hair of the characters is quite different - possibly rendered in a different way.

More subtle changes in the images include the textures of Lightning's clothes and her shoulders are considerably less rounded in the later build. The game also appears to have added depth of field effects, throwing the Snow and Vanille in the background out of focus.

Us at UFFSite? We believe that the early shots were likely doctored, improved or running on the Crystal Tools engine on PC - we're likely now just seeing true screenshots of the game, which still look amazing.

The real question is, which one looks better? Let us know in the comments box, on our forums or Tweet at us on our Twitter!

(I think the 2nd shot looks pretty blurry. All the comments from that site are feeling like they downgraded the game)

Since they've portted it to the XBOX, they might as well port it to the PC too. :D

Probably with the superior scalable PC architecture, my new quad-speed PC can easily render better graphics than the consoles, released sometime ago, could.

The first pic is definately a lot more crisp than the second one.

Lightning in the second pic look uncannily like a hong kong girl at my work place.

Gabrielj81 You just made a lot of the nerds here jizz in their pants.

He said what he said.  Why are you getting angry for?  I just find it funny that the producer would say that the game's going to look better than it did and yet it got worse.

First of all, I didn't get angry but rather surprised, amused and just noticed right away the irony of his statement.

And second, it doesn't chance the fact that the man doesn't know what he's talking about so I wouldn't take his words into account for this case.

Third point is subjective; I never belived FFXIII would use 100% of the PS3's power because it's just too early. Logically, later games (just like FFVIII or FFIX were to FFVII) will look much better and even those might not use 100% of the power.

game engine vs in-game

it was bound to have lower visuals. Sadly we aren't getting a PC version. That version would be the best.

Sorry dude, it just sounded like you were angry and I apologize for making that claim.  Like you said, the irony of his statements and how out of touch he is with his team... probably.  Though I wouldn't be surprised if his team told him they maxed out the PS3, they are porting a game that was probably made on atleast a Geforce 8 series dev unit of some kind working with probably a quad core CPU from Intel.  Though his claim about Final Fantasy X is actually true believe it or not; but that's a discussion for another thread.

No problem and also, I'm female, so I'm not a "dude".
