Forums - Sony - Has Sony Just Won The Holiday Console War?

People think this is well written?

This is a good line:

"Europe is highly regarded as a racing game nation"? - illiteracy and stupidity in one finely crafted sentence. Highly regarded or widely regarded?... Europe is a nation? Idiot.

"Most anticipated 360 exclusive Splinter cell" ? - Halo ODST says hi.

And the swipe at the Wii at the end is just pathetic.

Is there really anything new here other than a bunch of wishes from an amateur journalist?

It came across has being written by a Sony fanboy to me and thats being polite.  I like how there was no mention of the Wii in the article and how in all likelyhood it will still dominate the PS3, slim or otherwise.  The comments on how well GT5 will sell due to European tastes and then to completely ignore Forza 3 on the 360 which is releasing earlier and will build steam up to christmas too.  MOst of the points in favour of the PS3 selling better were all based on rumours and the only one that has any merit is a price cut which Sony have needed for a while (especially in America).

I'll just clarify one thing I think the PS3 does have a very good chance of outselling the 360 this year if Sony cut the price, provided Microsoft don't respond.  The Wii will continue to outsell both though.

So its hoping against hope really?

Hope that the games, price cut etc are as expected and hope that theres nothing from the competition which throws a spanner in the works.

Tease.

I guess the writer forgot about Halo 3: ODST, Forza 3, and L4D2 :P.

Splinter Cell was the most awarded 360 game at E3, to the critics... it IS the most wanted 360 game.

The most wanted game is the game that most people want and so far preorders are:

  1. Halo ODST
  2. Modern Warfare 2

Don't know about Splinter Cell. I admit there are lots of people waiting for it (me!), but it is not the most wanted Xbox360 game, no matter what game critics say.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

1) I assume he means HD war.

2) Conviction was the most anticipated 360 game for this year? I bet it wouldn't be if there was a Halo game coming out this year, especially a Halo FPS. Is there one?

3) If and when it's all confirmed, yes, this will be the best holiday season the PS3 has ever seen.

Thye might not move that many consoles considering if people desperatly liked those franchises they would have already bought the console for the 1st parts of them as the console is at an affordable price for most.

By that logic, wouldn't Splinter Cell fans have bought a 360 for Double Agent? It didn't sell very well on PS3. Though I suppose they might have bought it on Xbox/PS2, but really, how many people is that?

Yes if they advertise it.

Even if all that stuff does happen, and they launch their entire 2010 catalog, PS3 still won't win the holiday console war.

nope! Odst!

I agree that ODST will sell mad crazy. But i just don't believe it's a system seller. It's an expansion for a game released 2 yrs ago. The install base for the game already has a 360.  ODST will move software, not hardware.

Uhhh, if all those rumors were confirmed, then yes ps3 won the holiday season.
