Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft ramps up its offensive against cheaters, hackers and nudists

This is Microsoft clearly trying to police people in their own homes. What makes them think they have that right? If people wanna play video games in the nude in their own homes, they damn well can!

There's a difference between gaming in the nude, and playing UNO with minors while posing nude in front of your camera.  One of them constitutes a felony, I'll let you guess which one.

What about those who swear out loud on their mic or call people obscene names or words ..

I know I can mute them, but LIVE should have a bleep censor and once that person exceed the amount of bleeps, they should get a warning sign popup on their screen (you are going to be booted out of live for 24 hours), I'd bet that person will consider it twice before exceeding the amount of limited bleeps next time..

Oh no, that'd suck. I don't curse on XBL, but I think censorship is stupid. MS is already anal on what you can put in your XBL profile.

It's not all bad. Whenever somebody would ragequit on me on UFC 2009, I was usually able to something offensive in their profile
and report them for it.

It's about time.

"According to Stephen if you get caught hacking or phishing online now you will be banned from Xbox Live as well as your console receiving a life long ban and any other console you have used will also be included in that ban*"

thats a really bad move...
what if a hacker used his friend's xbox ? and what if like you said he sold his xbox ?

I know, so if you logged into all your friend's 360, for lan parties, as a secondary user all those 360s will be banned.

Way to piss off your customer base Microsoft.

So they shouldnt have a strict policy because some hacker might screw a friend over?  The harsher the penatly the more people will be afraid to disobey the rules.  MS is doing the right thing here!  Get rid of the cheaters!

And what happens if their friends have no idea the person hacks and just got randomly banned? Microsoft has no right to randomly ban people.

This would not be a random ban.  And yeah, they do have the right.

So you have some magic way control people from being douchebags in the privacy of their own homes?

No posing naked for men. Only for good looking girls. THAT should be added. :p

I'm all in favor of banning people like that. I don't want those kind of people on my xbl.

Everyone needs to play Lost Odyssey! Any opposition to this and I will have to just say, "If it's a fight you want, you got it!"

It's a bit too...well severe. Lifetime ban? Unless you get around 3 warnings. Keep in mind the person is paying for the service. I would be damn angry if they banned me without warnings for cheating..or hacking....or posting pics of me naked..(although that's...sad for people who do so.)

I would just like to point out that this is nothing new. This has been their policy for a while now. No where in the podcast did he mention any new policies.

With that in mind, I have yet to hear any bitching about random bans and friends causing their boxes to get banned. Appears these scenarios are non existent.
