Forums - Sony - Hold out for a slim?

Well my 60GB PS3 just got that flashing red light thing tonight. The problem is that II don't live in the states. I bought it off of amazon in august 2007 and had it brought to my country by a friend of mine. To have it fixed by sony will cost $150 plus all the charges for shipping in and out of my country not to mention the bastards at customs.

So my question is should i wait until they release the slim and just buy a new one? Or perhaps buy a 360 or wii. Just pinging some ideas.

Buy a 80Gig or 160Gig, those dont have the light problems. Dont get a Slim, in all of the pictures released it looks really ugly. Also, they will probably have over heating problems since they're so small.

Whatchu talkin' about Willis? PS3 slim will have a power brick just like PS2 slim. 'Tis one of the simplest ways of reducing the size of the machine. And Sony would be crazy mad to run the risk of getting a bad rep for the slim failure, when overheating is a known problem.

It seems your heart is pretty set on a number of PS3 exclusives so I suggest either getting it fixed or wait for the slim.

Get it repaired.
Sell on ebay.
Buy new ps3 or wait for slim.

well, Adjudicator, i remember you asking which PS3 to get and i warned you NEVER get a 60 GB model.
but who listens
i also told you not to get a 360 because that is going to RROD and your country doesn't give you a free repair for it.

and to all people who think 60 GB ps3 is a must have... no its not, they discontinued them for a reason , and the reason is obvious

Take the oppotunity, sell the PS3 and get in the range of $350 then buy a PS3 Slim and still have change over and buy a new game

sorted.

Get it repaired. It'll be cheaper than buying a slim and its a 60GB PS3!

I know early PS3 sales were low, but I'm pretty sure they sold more than one of them

Never argue with idiots
They bring you down to their level and then beat you with experience

An Xbox 360 is a great choice but I would still get that ps3 fixed somehow if you can. If not I would definitively get a 360 and just buy a slim later on, (price cut, better hardware than the current ps3).

Very tough choice Slim sounds awesome but like leo-J said you have a very special PS3 with the PS2 B/C chip. Me honestly I would get the slim.
