Forums - General - Religious Man left his Daughter to die

It is pretty pointless though if the news don't reach others who'd potentially do that, and it's unlikely to.
Maybe it's better to just not allow them to procreate anymore or ever be in charge of another human's well-being.
And check on the minister education that man took as well as on what their pastor or whoever is around preaches on Sundays.

It's not murder. They just let nature have it's course.

Btw, she is in heaven now instead of this cruel world.

Strange coming from someone with medical education. Oh wait, I've just been gamed, you're joking right?

This distinction from natural and artificial is irrelevant IMO. How is medical help different from an advanced form of wolves licking each other's wounds?

Im not really joking. I used the passive-natural aspect as a contrast to his intent-murder claim.

And you're a DOCTOR?!?!?!
I'm sorry, but I socialise with a fair few doctors regularly and I do not know one of them who have a "Just let nature take it's course" ethos... In fact they have the complete OPPOSITE ethos to that, they have a "we're doctors, let's try to PREVENT nature taking it's course".
What field of medicine allows that kind of mentality? I don't mean to be mean, but I don't get it.
Off Topic - I think I might take a break from this site until it calms down, it's bringing out the worst in me at the moment.

It's not murder...

They didn't want to kill theIR daughter on purpose.

How is dying from inaction any more natural than a person healing another one? Aren't we all part of nature, and by extension everything we do?

I really dislike this false natural/artificial distinction. Why do some of us pretend man =/= nature?

If nature took its course, we'd be extinct. We're humans, we've been breaking nature's laws for thousands of years. It's what makes us such a powerful species. I'm frightened that there's a certified doctor who really believes that. It's just scary.

Actually, thinking further into it, yeah, lock them up even if it's just to show it to the neighbours and relatives.

Apparently there were more people around and testifying about it, and every single of them is just as guilty for not making one damn phone call.
But I still think they should check just where these people get their ideas about life from, their freedom of belief is not fine when that's the result of it.

I highly doubt it does stop people from doing it in the future.

I mean... if the death possible death of your child isn't going to stop you... Jail time is?

You don't think these parents would of went to jail for 25 years if it would of saved their kid?

The story being reported is more likely going to stop people from doing it then any jail time.

Any jail time in fact may cause people to feel prosecuted and self righteous in what they're doing.

This isn't a crime of greed.   It's a crime of ignorance.  Crimes of ignorance can not be erased via punishement.

Sometimes hearing about other people getting punished for something goes a long way to open ears to some information...

@MontanaHatchet: Nature doesn't have laws (except like.. the laws of physics and those are unbreakable). Nature is just what it is, and that includes us.

They all believe it though.

I mean if someone refuses treatment they aren't arrested for attempting suicide.

When it comes to young children... what it comes down to is that medical choices are in the hands of the parents and not the state.

Sure there is the occasional tradgedy like this... and the occasional child dies because of a lack of vacanation...

However.  It's better then the alternative of the government being able to force people to do stuff to their children.

When people are given choice.  Invariably some will make mistakes... however this is a better course of action then having choice taken away.
