And no I don't see the point in buying it now because I won't use it for The Conduit if I do... it sounds terrible. (which is why I mute you in game)

So, are you saying that you can hear people using WiiSpeak during the game, even if you do not have WiiSpeak?

In the absence of evidence to the contrary, always assume you have the upper hand.

EntilZha, from my person experience from hosting these things ( and yes you people even without wii speak) wii speak is not made for this kind of online game.One on One it works great but when multiple people that have it ,use it.. there is a lot of echo, lag, background noises which makes seem not worth buying at all.

Sorry TWRoo for intruding

I have spent about 40 hours on the single player... been through it on each of the 4 lower difficulties, and up to level 4 on the hardest... as well s 2-3 other times going through the easier settings after I decided the hardest setting was fucking impossible.

Yes I can hear you.... and it doesn't matter how many of you there are, it lowers the sound of the actual game dramatically, so I can't even hear my own character unless I fire a bullet near one of you with Wii speak (because it comes out of your speakers, into Wii speak and through to me) And when there is more than 1 of you, even if it's just 2, there is a a good deal of echoing as well.

I believe that the echoing is the result of not having the settings and placement optimized. I still believe putting it on top of the TV is not a good idea. It is too close to the speakers, and I believe that is what causes the echo and distortion. I have mine set up like this:

Wii  ------------> WiiSpeak ---------> me

 TV -------------> table ------------->Couch

I also set the sensitivity down to 4. It works really well with two people, and I am looking forward to testing it with more.

is it wireless?

if not then it's not particularly practical having it placed away from the TV... My living room for instance there is nothing between TV and where we sit, so I would have to move it onto the floor each time I want to play.
In my room though where my Wii is most of the time, there is a bed between the TV and me (well the end of a bed, as I am sat on the rest of it) so I would again have to be moving it about all the time.

I'm not against the idea of Wii Speak entirely, I hear it works well for Animal Crossing and it is clearly a good idea for social games like that where 1 person might be playing, but there might be 2-3 in the same room wanting to talk to whoever is at the other end... however the option of a headset type device would be much preferred for me, and if there was one at about £10 I would probably buy it (if it was more I would probably leave it even then as I am not that interested in talking to the people I am obliterating )

No, it is not wireless. It sits on my TV when I am not using it, and I put it on the table when I play. The cord is quite long, and it is not that much trouble to do. A wireless headset would work better, as the WiiSpeak idea is new and they certainly did not do enough quality testing on it.

In case anyone is getting an error code 20100 when trying to play the Conduit online, I have heard that there is a server problem and is "temporary". It does not seem to be affecting everyone. It has kept me from playing for a few hours now.
