All i read is about the game industry slowing down, sales down, etc. Do people actually look at what came out last year, compared to this year? That's the reason sales are slow, not the recession.

| leo-j said: Meh its selling well, all platforms are, you have to look at the big picture, 100K isnt a small number, thats 100,000 people buying that certain video game console during that week. |
100,000 in the grand scheme of things isn't exactly a lot, its meh. and Sony is well under that worldwide, which is pretty terrible.
Using them as an example, The ps3 sold 37000 this week in Americas
just counting the big stores...
5000 gamestop stores, 1400 best buys, 3800 wal marts, 1300 targets,
that's about 12000 stores that a lot of people buy their games from, of course there are way more than that, plus online retailers like amazon, and other store chains.
So assuming that these 4 store chains are the only place where people buy games, you'd have trouble selling 3 PS3's over the course of a week.
Yes 100,000 sounds like a lot, but since the market is so huge it's rather insignificant.
I would say 360, PS3, and PSP are selling from terrible to meh. Wii is doing alright, but not great, DS is doing great.
Sony really needs a slim PS3 or a price drop for the holidays.
I hope the PS3 doesnt fall below 80 K
The last time it happened every analyst worth the name crawled out from under their rocks and said it was unacceptable.
I cant face another round of vile analysts spouting the bleeding obvious.
@ kowenicki
I just checked the same week last year, and actually if it does manage above 300k next week it will have the same numbers as last year which is a first in while.
I wonder if people are already waiting for slim release.

I think people are waiting for a huge price cut but a slim would be a great bonus!

But doing it now would largely waste its initial effect, it's a slow period anyway (long term trend is important, but the first boost matters too, it could significantly reduce the gap in a short time), we'll have to wait Autumn to see if they do it.
