Forums - Sony - Pretty simple fail from Sony...

@ S.T.A.G.E

You only have 1 game that requires a hefty installation though, and yes, some multiplat does require a large amount of space, mostly capcom is to blame, but on pure installation, you have to have an equivilant of 14 games the size of resident evil 5 to fill up yout HDD. And judging by your game colletion even on the 360 (which is also mostly exclusives) you'll take a grand time of doing that, the more liekly scenario is a few games, some video clip, a couple of demos and a few PSN games. But then you're PS3 is suddenly doing stuff that previous generation weren't capable off and its once again the simplicity versus functionality debate.

That said 500gb is the way to go, I've had one since I bought my PS3 and never looked back :)

You have to ask yourself why a BR Disc would want to be put onto a HD in the first place? IS this because Sony know that deep down people want ease of access to games on HD's than hunt for their discs every time they want to play a game? Hmm so really Sony have already shown what a mess BR is straight away

My friend, Sony couldn't begin to fathom how to answer that question. If they did, they would say something like, " It has more space and power". My response would be...."Well thanks for making games take longer to make and taking up so much space in the HD". This brings me to an old saying of mine that too much unneeded power is more a curse than a blessing and usually cuts your life short.

Mine is just fine and I have saves for over 20 games on it.

having to install a game before you can even play it is pretty fail on sony's part. You dont have the option of playing off the disk at all.

Blaming Sony because its bad for business.
If Sony wants to us use Home,Psn, heck even buy games it must think those who doesn't wanna upgrade to bigger harddrive like Pc.

wtf are you communicating with us with then if you don't like PC? And wtf is with this limited scope of PCs anyways. In your mind there what general use PCs and gaming PCs? I really hope you know there are multi-media PCs, gaming PCs, student/basic PCs, business PCs, programmer PCs, server PCs, and probably a few others I forgot. PC is not limited to what it can and can't be used for.

Even a basic student PC needs storage space because they might need a ton of e-books installed, programs, and since they are students we know it will have a ton of music on it.

Let me guess whenever you need more storage space on your PC you either delete stuff off your computer or buy an entire new PC? (I dear god hope you don't do the latter)

I prefer the Xbox 360 way, its as easy as 1. 2. 3.

1. Buy new HDD.
2. Use HDD transfer cable.
3. Sell old HDD.

I don't think anything which generally requires someone to access an online instruction manual is good for the general public.

Online instruction manual? Seriously? For someone who has a ps3, your lack of knowledge about simple things ps3 can be puzzling. Instructions come packaged with the console and don't need to be found online.

I find the PS3 included instructions to be insufficient. For example the instructions on the Mirrors edge theme directed me in the wrong direction, it wasn't until I downloaded newer instructions that I found out how to use the theme.

Its not a question of what you do when you have an empty PS3 and you're whipping out the HDD, its more about the complexity involved in doing so for a PS3 whos HDD is full.

Well I can't imagine how much harder it could possibly be to swap a 360 hdd vs that of a ps3. Most people  if not everyone who plays games has a PC so things like backing up shouldn't be too complicated. Also, gamers who would choose to buy ps3 this gen would tend to have even more tech knowledge than your average casual gamer. I simply find it hard to believe that you who can post all those tech jargon that I find hard to understand, were unable to do something as simple as unscrewing a hdd when even I could do it with the info provided. It's hard to believe.

I think you were just unwilling or just innately wanted it to feel really hard and so it came to pass...

I was talking about the wider public. My own abilities to build, tweak and overclock computers is not for example a skill which many people here possess or that many people in the general public possess. Therefore I assume that people don't have the time/willingness to do so. Its like the question of how many people used lens cleaner or dialed their PS2s laser in 4-5 times over the course of a generation vs the number of people who bought a 2nd or 3rd console?
