UK high-street chain WHSmith might well be hinting at the launch of a PS3 Slim.
It's already been rumoured that Sony has signed agreements with two manufacturers to build a PS3 Slim, and many are expecting an announcement at either Cologne's GamesCom or the Tokyo Games Show.
Although console offers aren't uncommon, there seems to be something more to Smith's reduction of the PS3 to only £200 on the high-street. GhostStorm got in touch with the retailer, to which they were told that the PS3 sale was a "clearance exercise."
Moreover, Smith told them that they would no longer be selling the console in their high-street stores, though they'd continue to sell PS3 games and the console online.
I've personally never seen a PS3 console in WHSmith, which I see more as a book and magazine store, but their following comment as to why they were abandoning the PS3 is more interesting:
"We are clearing PS3s to make room for any new products that may come from Sony in the future," WHSmith told GhostStorm.
Could they be clearing room for the PS3 Slim?
