KoF XII wouldn't suck if the netcode was so bad. It does, so most people think the game sucks.

The net issues seem to affect the US more. I can get lag free matches easily in Japan. A shame. I hope it is sorted soon.

Obviously because there are far less people playing in Japan.

I think Japan has a better internet structure overall, and because Japan isn't as large as America connections should run much smoother than in the US. This game with good online is pretty good, and if that's the case in Japan I'm happy to hear it, but when I tried to play a few matches all of them lagged and I ended up playing Blazblue for a couple hours instead. I want to like KOF XII, but without a good netcode I don't see it happening.

Better infrastructure for sure (I have 100 Mbps best effort) but size shouldn't make much difference, and I'm pretty sure number of users is irrelevant. It's as if either the code just doesnt work well on slower links, or some other factor is affecting things.

Around the Network

I noticed in last few days preorder price on KOF in Poland dropped over 10% since reviews surfaced.

Personally i'm waiting till it hits bargain bin- single player is laughtable after SF IV and BB release, and hopefully they will be able to repair online by this time.

@Dno- what's wrong with being GG clone ? Almost all fightning games are clones of one of big series those days.

I really don't know why the netcode is so bad, but it's probably the worst online experiences I've experienced with a fighter so far, though my experiences are limited to Blazblue/SFIV and GGPO. I'm sure everybody would agree the single player options in this game is rather limited, but the game itself is really good and probably just as fun as SFIV or Blazblue. Only problem is I can't get ever seem to get a match in that is half-way decent. I hope Ignition is able to fix the problems soon, but I think they probably messed up really bad on this one since the casual base they could've potentially drawn in will probably just flock over to Tekken 6 in a couple of months.

They do seem to have messed up. Surely testing would have highlighted the issues. As for the game, I want to learn Elisabeth.

Personally I tend to hover toward charge characters and Kim seemed to play pretty well. I picked Athena too just because I know a friend that seems to like her character and there's really no other reason than that. I just get down to trying to pick a third character and I really haven't settled on any yet. I'll probably try online once they announce a patch/fix for it, but right now all I can really do is play in practice or arcade mode. I'm sort of lucky since I actually live within a 10 minute drive or an active arcade scene, so I guess I could go down and play a few rounds if I have time to spare. This game definitely won't be as popular as they would've wished, but if they fix the online the KoF fanbase seems loyal enough and will probably stick with this game.
