I'm sick of hearing this shipped excuse. Why would retailers keep ordering and allowing sony to KEEP over stocking (I mean this was the excuse for the holidays right) If it isn't selling well....

How is a fact, an excuse. You saw this, got excited, got dissapointed, and now you're trying to fish out some way that your original assumption could actually be true?

"Shipped" isn't an excuse. It's a fact. Companies report shipped figures. We estimate sold figures. Work out the difference, and you'll realize it isn't an excuse.

Your personal deductions are oversimplistic and not plausable.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Shipped generally is proportional to consumer demand, unless there is channel stuffing going on. I don't see stacks and stacks of PS3s at the store lately. Actually, quite the opposite these days.

I think it has to do with Sony marketing more in developing markets (Middle East, South Asia, South America, etc.). Probably the ones more difficult to track consumer sales.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

Unfortunately, I disagree. I think that personal anecdotes are often completely opposite of truth, and also, I think that developing markets have little or nothing to do with this percieved disparity, but instead, like ioi says, those numbers are "shipped" and not "sold."

That's just my opinion on your commonly held belief. I respect it, and respectfully disagree. Not because ioi said so, but because to me, it seems obvious.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Its ahead and is adding more to it's lead each day even if it's only by a little it's still bumping up its lead over PS3. I personally like that they are only about 10 millions difference between 360/PS3 in sales. It helps make for much more fierce competition between Sony/Microsoft and only means better exclusives and better HD multiplatform games for everyone. So it is a win for all HD console owners no matter which one is your favorite.

How our favorite systems are just like humans and sometimes have issues finding their special someone...

Xbox 360 wants to KinectPS3 wants to Move!  Why are both systems having such relationship problems?  The reason is they both become so infactuated with desire while watching the Wii as it waggles on by. They simply want what they can't have.
