Sega Dreamcast says "Hello".
Fact1----, that is not a well known fact because lots of Non Nintendo Fanboys are buying it too, though i agree at the moment Nintendo fanboys are probably the most popular of Wiis owners i bet it is only about half of current owners.
Fact2---the GC was an excellent machine, much better as a console than the PS2, however the incredible lack of third party support meant that there were few great games on it , and few games in total.
and despite my opinion that the N64 had the best games on it compared to the PS1, i actually think there wasn't much good about the system other than the controller, the N64 only really had two things over the PS1, better 3D capabilities (though PS1 had better textures and such so often made it look better) and no loading times....The GC is a much much better machine than the N64, but having even less third parties making for it than the N64 it failed in games.
All that shows exactly why hardware is the least important factor in how well a console does.

So, being that the Wii has already sold more in some regions than the Gamecube did (and soon enough will have sold better in most regions than the Gamecube did) who is buying the new Wii systems in those regions?

Obviously you have overlooked the migratory patterns of Nintendo fanboys. In their efforts to find an unsold Wii, the most obvious destination would be the continet of Australia, where a Nintendo fanboy is as rare as a Tasmanian Wolf. |
well I lolled... =)
I thought they were going to country Japan?
Help! I'm stuck in a forum signature!
Its definitely not just Nintendo fans my grandparents who have never owned a console before and generally dislike videogames bought one. And before the yea but they won't buy anything but Wii Sports and Wii Play excuse that may be true but every time I see them they tell me about how they sold some friend of theirs on the Wii. Friends with children who will inevitably lead to a console sale that has some games attached to it. I see that being the most significant effect to the Wii its getting into households that game systems didn't used to then through word of mouth find their way to other houses that will sell lots of software.
Now Playing : Links Crossbow Training(Wii), Super Mario Galaxy(Wii) FE: Path of Radiance(GC)
