Forums - Nintendo - Is Wii Sports Resort now one of your best games?

I just got it today and i don't really like it, lol!
Most of the games included make my hands hurt o.O
Maybe it's because i haven't played any Wii games for a month or so, dunno.

Still i'm kinda disappointed :/

yea if you're expecting to sit down and relax and play wii sports it's not your game, that's not what it's meant to be.  Original Wii Sports wasn't meant to be played that way but the controls weren't complex enough, you could get away with sitting and bowling etc.  WSR can be a pretty good workout depending on what you're playing and how much you get into it.  If you're not willing to move your body then you shouldn't be playing wii sports.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

I can't afford it at the moment, but what I've played I've loved. Honestly, I think it'd hold my attention far longer than Wii Sports did. Just flying around is a blast. xD

My only complaint is that the island looks exactly like the first island level from Pilotwings 64. This annoys me because 1. it makes me realize how much I want a new Pilotwings, and 2. it reminds me how Nintendo is ignoring most of their franchises that could make excellent use of the Wii controls in favor of the Wii series (except for Mario Kart). Where's Mario Tennis, Mario Golf, Pilotwings, or Waverace? By this point in the GameCube's life, we had seen 3/4 of these franchise PLUS Mario Kart, Zelda, Super Mario, and the rest.

Alright based on having rented Sports Resort I am highly dissapointed. Well not really I expected Wii Sports Resort to be an over glorified tech demo. Sure they crammed alot of content into the tech demo's but it was still a series of tech demo's. The game seems pretty solid but it is still a tech demo. None of the Wii series have yet to impress me, with the exception of WiiFit which I found highly enjoyable!

Nintendo are confusing me.

Why am I questioning whether Twighlight Princess is a better game than WSR? Would I really rather play another game of dogfighting than replay a level of Mario Galaxy? Why do I want to slice cakes, watermelons and diamonds instead of playing Mario Kart Wii? Punch Out beaten by table tennis, this is madness.

What have you done to me Nintendo?

I know it's early days and maybe I'm losing my senses but I think WSR has entered my top 20 of all time and is easily in my top 10 Wii games. I'm still trying to work out how far up the list they are.

Is it just me?

If Wii Sports Resort is in your top 10 of the best games on the Wii, then it really has slim pickings. Sport Resort is just supposed to be a generic draw for casuals that makes for good party game fun. On a level with well made AAA titles, I wouldn't even say its on par. The Wii seems to be a rather confusing system.

i'd say its on par with alot of AAA titles, that includes 360 and ps3 AAA titles
WSR has so much depth i say its easily one of the top games for the wii and games this gen

I'm sorry but all I can say is LOL. WiiSportsResort is like an advanced Mario Party without the board and Mario characters. Its a ton of mini-games each with a few unlockables. Its essentially a tech demo that made its way into a game. Hardly up their with the ProtoTypes, Halo's and Mario's of this generation.

I expected it to be a glorified tech demo and having gone hands on with it. I still believe it to be such. Nintendo doesn't develope tech demo's anymore they take those tech demo's and turn them into actual games or collections of various tech demos. Sure WiiSportsResort features unlockables and extra features that its predisecor did not. But it is still just another over glorified tech demo! Not in any way an AAA game I have trouble calling it an A class game. Its a tech demo, thats all it really is and I wish Nintendo would rather focus on MarioParty9 which is essentially a mixture of mini-games. Rather then giving us another tech demo!

Ok...now you're going too far. Do not put that game anywhere near the following:.

1. Uncharted 1 & 2

2. Mass Effect 1 & 2

3. Gears 1 & 2

4. Infamous

5. Killzone 2

6. Halo 3 & ODST

7. Fable II

8. Metal Gear Solid 4

9. Grand Theft Auto IV

10. Call of duty 4 & Modern Warfare 2

These are pretty much the best games on the PS3 and 360. Do actually mean to tell me that Wii Sports Resort could hold a candle to these games? Sure the game can outsell these titles, but look at the majority of the owners of the Wii. They aren't interested in moderate to hardcore games. You can pretty much tell by the sales.

When games like Wii Sports Resort sell over 20 million copies and Games like I listed above sell 10 or less its a bad day for gaming. It means that the majority of people who game don't want to spend any time learning how to better themselves at gaming. They just want a one night stand.

I don't consider it anything...it just is. I'll define it the best way I know how though.

A AAA title is a popular game known to moderate and core gamers, which has a high level development cost.

A hardcore gamer, is a gamer who actually spends time with his/ her games (almost like a hobbyist) and learns the ins and outs of it. They also like to learn about new titles. They can play all levels of games (from easy to hard difficulty) and usually are very competitive. They are what you would consider to be the avant garde of gaming.

Hardcore games are titles that are more challenging than casual titles. They tend to have either healthy or cult followings (depending on the marketing). They tend to have more depth and a sophisticated control scheme that most casuals wouldn't care to understand.
