Forums - Nintendo - Marvelous interview - Wii, lack of their sales, and more

Finally a third party which sees partially what they need to do and not just blame someone else for low sales. And a company that realizes they can do well my connecting to the 'unique' model of the Wii by making titles and genres that or companies want to abandon.

But most importantly, its just refreshing to see a spokesman for a company (besides Nintendo itself) who is saying to the effect 'well, the games didn't sell a million copies, but we didn't exact them to. These are just the initial titles to generate interest for our company and brand names.' Cuz that's how it works!

i'll bet edge expected the interviewee to bash the wii and it's lack of HD in the first question.

Considering the approach that Edge has toward the Wii -- that would be a given.

It is good though that someone is actually taking about FUN!

That was a beautiful response; I'm archiving this somewhere.

I just hope they find that one breakout game that gives them a name at least like Atlus or Koei. They aren't making excuses and they aren't wavering in their mission of quality game creation.

Well, I'm sure they'll get a moderate hit that can give them some stability soon.

Well their reason for going to 360 was because they wanted to 'expand the game design to a whole new level'.  In other words, they think they did everything they could with the Wii.

I have to GREATLY disagree with that assessment.  But that's their official statement.  I think they're just switching to 360 moreso just so they can have better graphics.  It isn't even a question of sales, as No More Heroes, for the most part, did better than even the developers expected in sales.

@Ken

They never said they were switching to the 360...

When it was first announced, I thought they pointed to E3.  If that's not the case, then okay.  But Suda51 defintely said he thinks he has done everything he can on the Wii, which I think isn't the case, as they didn't exactly do everything they could have to squeeze the Wiis power.

Wow @ the No More Heroes speculation. I am kind of shocked and amazed.

I am also amazed at thee approach Marvelous is taking towards, not only Nintendo's platform, but their own games. The fact that they admit to have a sketchy history with gamers is more than a little forthcoming and when they mention things like gaining gamers trust and supporting the platform even though that trust is not established after two or three solid titles makes me very impressed.

I already buy the games I enjoy, I am not out to purchase games that suck because the developer has a mentality or philosophy I agree with, but those statements make me appreciate thee effort and quality of their recent works even more. As long as the titles stay solid, I will be more than happy to support them with my dollar. As long as their ideals stay geared in this direction, I will verbally support this developer (word of mouthing their excellence in quality and philosophy to other gamers I know and over thee internet).

The wii can have a bunch of people on the screen. Dummy. The grinder proves that

He didn't claim the Wii couldn't have a bunch, just not loads. And The Grinder's 65 (although I have yet to see such a screenshot) just doubles his 30, not the several hundred that HD systems have shown.
