Forums - Gaming - Who could care less about online in their games?

I definitely care.

Online multiplayer adds a ton replayability. I like to get the most out of my games.

I have been playing games since I began with the Odyssey, so I have been around gaming for a while.  I have never gotten into online gaming though and I just cannot no matter how much I try.  I do not care if a game comes with online or not, and this never influences my decision to buy a game.  There have been a few games that I have enjoyed online like Mario Kart Wii and Grand Slam Tennis, but there just is not that many.  Granted, I only own a Wii this gen, but I have no desire to go online with shooters like The Conduit or Medal of Honor, which I have had both.  Anyone else feel the same way about online.  I guess I would much rather have local multiplayer than anything.

I presume a couple million people pay for Xbox Live. WoW has millions of players as well. I think this is an indication many people enjoy online play.

The best thing about Halo 3 is it offers up to four players on a single console to play online with other players. That should be standard in my opinion but we rarely see it.

I could care less.

I absolutely love online in my games, 9 times out of 10 it's a selling point for me. Been playing online for a looooong time now, and don't see myself stopping that at any point in the future.

Single player matters the most to me, multiplayer is just added bonus.

Fact of the matter is, if Online disappeared, you would lose a fair chunk of gamers.

If campaigns disappeared, it would flat out kill core gaming, and future releases would either be huge money sinks, or dated cheap ripoffs.

Many people play online games. Almost everyone plays games in a SP setting at some point.

No matter how progressive you want to be, this will always be the truth, and no amount of gaming evolution will change it.

If your single player game sucks, your game sucks. People don't buy engines. People buy games, and you can get together with any set of the same five asshole internet friends you have, and have a great time, no matter how good or bad the game is. You can't, however, enjoy a bad SP game.

Now, I'm sure some online advocates would have you believe otherwise, but use your head.

...not that online is bad, or even second fiddle. I love WoW, and have 3 level 70 toons. It's just never going to be the dominant form of gaming. Casuals and core gamers, we all play single player. Compared to that, online is niche.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

The phrase is 'I COULDN'T care less', not 'I could care less'. I have seen this mistake made by so many people on this forum.

Let us consult the caring continuum:

Apparently, a great deal of Americans never reach the stage where they actually couldn't care less.

They always care. At least a little.

Obama's made that mistake.

My theory is that some people, including myself, learned it wrong.

I assumed that when I said "I could care less" that I was being sarcastic, meaning no, I really don't care at all.

In fact, despite the arrogant grammar police's definition of a mistake, the truth is, intelligence in no way coorelates to grammar or spelling, and that turn of phrase can mean anything you want it to mean, if you're clever enough.

So, I wish people would cut it out with the superiority jazz about grammar, when they know it would be too difficult to argue an actual point.

I like my Buzz! with online because playing alone is sad :( and gets boring.

You dont know what your missing out on. PS3 and Xbox360 are so amazingly fun, the online for games is incredible! not just shooters, every genre! Theres tons of racing and sports games that I can tell you would like, so I think you should look into picking up one of the HD consoles. Really worth it.

Online gaming is definitely a must for me, the thing that's so great about it is that you pretty much get a new experience every time and it adds a lot to re playability

however, sometimes I just feel like playing a nice single player game/RPG and that's where I don't really care about the online

for example, Oblivion and FO3 both have dozens of hours of game play despite having no online mode

I can say this: If CoD 4 didn't have online, I would have beat the campaign in a few days.
Instead, I was instantly hooked to the online and didn't touch the campaign until months later.
