Forums - General - F1: Hamilton wins, Massa might not race again.

I might be a day late, but what odds. Lewis Hamilton anc McLaren who have had a dismal season so far won, surprisingly. That'l give him a bit of confidence.

As for Massa, latest reports say that he is almost definitely out for the season and he may not race again due to eye damage. For all of you who don't know, he was driving along at 180mph when a spring from the car infront flew out and hit him on the head - knocking him out. He then crashed.

is Massa really out for the rest of the season?

damn, i knew it was bad, but not that bad, that sucks, he's a great driver.

the race itself was pretty good for me, Hamillton was superb, won the race easily in the end.

Get well soon Felipe.

oh yeah, i also read in todays paper that Renault have been suspended for the next race, for failing to make Alonso's car safe (his wheel came off, and given what happend in F2 race, the FIA are coming down hard on them)

yeah what happened to Massa really sucks. I hope he'll be racing again soon.
Not to take anything away from Hamilton, but I've got to feel sorry for Alonso. He was doing pretty damn well until his pit crew bungled the tire change. Now not only did he not get anything points wise from Hungary, but he now stands to miss his home GP too if the appeal is unsuccessful. As for Piquet, well the chances are good he wouldn't have got any points in Spain anyway, so no great loss to him.

true, Alonso was gonna struggle to win anyway imo though, Hamilton was catching him before he pitted.

for those who are concerned, it looks like Massa's eye might be ok
That's good news at least.

Off topic (I don't want to create another topic), but still related to F1.

It sounded like Ferrari were trying to play down the Massa injuries. They had him on a respirator, and had to induce a coma for 24 hrs to ensure he'd survive the night. Ferrari just said "he's sleeping". I feel really sorry for the guy if he doesn't race again. He's still young and stood a good chance of winning the championship at some stage in the future. Hopefully still will.

Hamilton HAD HIS first good race in over a year, shows how much the cars do compared to the drivers.
