Aw there aren't really any good Star Craft mods just some reskins it seems for like Star Trek or other space shows.

Doom and Quake have MASSIVE modding fanbases that are STILL making stuff today. Now THATS awesome.



GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

It's cool that popular Valve games like Counter-Strike, Team Fortress, and Day of Defeat started out as mods and Oblivion mods can make the game look like new.

The Freespace Source Code Project has yielded some pretty cool results. It's amazing how they've improved how the 10 year old games look. What was a muddy looking ship is now a high polygon wonder.

Not to mention there are some good mods out there. Transcend, Sync, and Homesick were fun to play. Also, that's what that Star Fox fan game is being made from.

Also, while I think it's dead, there was a cool Star Wars mod for Homeworld 2 and that was fun to play around with just to see the Star Wars ships blasting the hell out of eachother.

They can modify the game essentially and can range from creating something new or just tweaking something with the main game itself. For example, popular Valve games like Counter-Strike, Team Fortress, and Day of Defeat started out as mods and as already stated in this thread, Oblivion mods can make the game look like new.
