Forums - Nintendo - Which version of Final Fantasy 4 is better, GBA or DS?

Well the DS version is easy to find, unlike the gba version.

I prefer the DS version (not because of the graphics, but because of the difficulty). Kill any monster/boss without effort and finish the game without any problem isn't for me.

I love to say: "ooooooh goood, that boss was really hard, but wasn't enough to kill me (at least not for the third time)! Yeeah I am totally badass, I knew it ".

People love grinding, really? o_O

Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

I played both of them and FFIV DS is the best, even if it doesnt includes the final extra dungeon which takes a least 10 hours to complete.

I know, it's nonsense on the face of it, but I really do. It's how we did it back in the day. Play the original Dragon Quest (NES), you kill a slime (+1 xp), then red slimes (+1 xp) , OOOOOOHHHH a scorpion (Whew! Almost killed me, +5 xp) 2 hours later. . . LEVEL 3! And we friggin' loved it! It's an incredible sense of accomplishment for something so mind numbing, but there it is.

Those were the days. That's why I love the DQ franchise so much.

And then after killing a bunch of them and leveling up you realize you can kill twice as many before going back to town to heal.  Then you check the Priest and he's like "Only 47 experience points to go before WoW can level up."  Which then psyched you to go kill even more...

I can't figure out why it was so addictive back then... but it was.

Actually... I have to admit it's not so bad because there is a sense of accomplishment (sometimes stuff carry over in a New Game+ for example). Damn, I mean I played through Persona 3 and 4 after all, and just for the ending it was worth it!

Though, what I hate is the overabuse of it sometimes. Some RPGs can easily get 30-40+ hours of gameplay just from grinding because the developers couldn't think of anything interesting to put in between certain story parts.

Hell, even the Metal Slime wasnt so lucrative in term of xp in the original Dragon Quest.

I like the DS version more. IV is definitely my favorite in I - V. It isn't that hard of a game if you know how to play a JRPG. The moon can be a pain, but it isn't too tough.

Must buy though!
