Forums - Nintendo - Which version of Final Fantasy 4 is better, GBA or DS?

I've recently been playing FF4 for the DS and I'm fed up. FF4 on the DS is far more difficult than any other FF game I've played and I'm just tired of it. For the record, I recently completed FF 1, 2, for the GBA. I'm in the middle of 3 for the DS and I completed 7 and 8 years ago. I ordered a GBA lot of FF 4, 5, and 6 primarily because I want to play 6. But which version of 4 do you guys think is better?

The GBA version is very nice, be wary of the SNES visuals though.

Pixel Art can be fun.

DS version is a nerdgasm for ff4 fans, and changing up the difficulty has been very interesting for me. I think "Okay, Rosa's at level 35, ready for Golbez!" Nope, dead. More level grinding! You just have to change the places where you used to level grind when it was ff2 on the SNES (and do a BIT more). If you do the level grinding right, it will be pretty easy. If you don't like level grinding, what the heck are you playing this game for?!?!?!

FFV is way harder. anyways FFIV was that barely playable crap released for the snes, then came the GBA port which is slower and lags on the menus, and theres the ds on crap in 3D yay!

FF IV is a boring game, no matter which version you are trying to play.

Well how much grinding do I have to do? Cecil is at level 73, I'm on the moon and regular battles are still a bitch. This game is just hard and takes a ton of grinding.

i love FF4 il be getting the DS version whenever it gets released in the EU :P

Yeah, FF4 is pretty hard, I don't grind a lo though, so I guess that's my problem... >_>

for the moon battles use magic, specially for the pacman look alikes. in the last dugeon when you are descending towards the last battle, just runaway if you want to be fresh for the boss, its easy and at that level you should be able to runaway from all battles. i beat the game at level 40 cecil, and level 30 something the other characters, just administrate your magic well and if you have ethers be sure to save them.

I think you will be more satisfied with the GBA versions.
