Forums - Gaming - Which game mechanic would you get rid of?

Stealth. I was playing FF VII, there is bloody annoying stealth, and the stealth in Crisis Core means that it is not my favourite PSP game, which it would be if not for that feature

I would get rid of cutscenes and games that prioritize story and characters above gameplay, (most new final fantasys, MGS4) and first person rpgs. Maybe it's just me but I liked games that were fun more then setting my controller down for a good 10 min every time I kill something.

Marry me?

Pixel Art can be fun.

I would get rid of whiny main characters in JRPGs.

Agree with the bolded.

Also QTE's & especially grinding.

Absolutely... *looks at your avatar* more Ryudos! :)

I would get rid of all the sandbox games, that try to bring us more "freedom" on the cost of variety, good story lines and interesting characters. Yes, Assassin's Creed, I'm looking at you.

Regenerating Health

This.

4 ≈ One

I don't see how "bad characters/character designs" are considered game MECHANICS...

The only stealth I remembered was that little mini game in Shinra tower... lol.

Perhaps FFVII had poor stealth, because it was not meant to be a stealth game? And you're not going to argue that all games needed to be open ended in terms of gameplay? If a developer wants to make the player play an action game, then they have the right to.

People who die just go through other ones. Where's the stacking of bodies, man?

Adding collision to dead bodies can open up a myriad of other way more annoying problems.

QTE's for sure.

Also, regenerating health. It's so casual.

Agreed!
