It’s so unbelievable, I can’t get it into a quick sentence. Please tell me this was some edited clip, and not real.

Basically, someone asked Obama about how their mother would have been treated under the new plan.

This woman’s mother was 99 when she needed a pacemaker to continue living. The original answer from the doctor was no, but when they met the woman and realized how much she loved life, they did it. She is now 105, and still loving life.

Obama told her daughter, that under the plan, the best approach is to give her medication for the pain, and have her just die.

Really Mafoo, I'm beginning to think that you see demons in every sentence Obama makes. What he basically said was: Current legislation leaves us with a lot of waste - I take it he here means people who are in a lot of pain and who will not live any fulfilling or meaningful live but who have to continue because legislation does not permit euthanesia (is that the English word?)

The woman on the show/her mother did not, in my opinion fill this description. Perhaps she was in pain but following a second opinion they got her treatment. By allowing loser euthenesia you do not limit the potential for a second opinion.

Let me turn this around. If the current American legislation was present in Holland, I would have seen my grandmother last year suffer far more then was necessary. She would not have been able to say, joyfully and freely that "it is alright this way". Thank god that it was possible.

Oh, and Esmoreit, you can chose to not have treatment in this country. You just can't actively kill yourself. If someone is dying of something, and all they want is pain killers, they can make that choice.

Obama didn't say either. Watch the other clip. In fact, he said it might have been better to give her the pace-maker sooner.
