Nintendo did not want to make the Wii an HD console because as Miyamoto put, it would be like 3 Tyrannosaurus Rex duking it out for a small part of a larger land. Those weren't his exact words, but Nintendo would not be able to truly differentiate themselves from the competition unless they slightly stepped back from the "power" game.

As for the Wii being weak and all that, it isn't as strong as the PS3/360, but it can make some great looking games. Super Mario Galaxy especially is a gorgeous game and to me personally might as well be a 360 game. The art helps it greatly.

For those who don't believe the Wii is stronger than the Xbox, I'll be back. 3rd parties and Nintendo to an extent must have you real confused when it comes to what the Wii is capable of. The GC was on par, if not better than the Xbox graphically.

Try will Sony and Microsoft not make their systems cost more than they can sell at a reasonable price.

And no, it wasn't specs that kept the games from Nintendo. It's companies thinking specs matter.

You can still make spectacular games on the Wii, at less cost. Developers just got this dumbass idea that the spectacular games they made in the 6th gen somehow aren't spectacular anymore.

Flops are not solely determinant of power. I thought that was the falsehood that Sony tried to feed everyone back with the PS2, whose processor was also heavy on the Flops.

I addressed this before, today (from sguy, too), and lack of cash wasn't the reason why Nintendo went the direction they did, it's just a difference of strategy. Equally part of that different strategy is that Nintendo is not going to put out consoles at a loss, so having more cash on hand won't impact their decision whatsoever (unless it means more to dispose on R&D, but even that doesn't mean more power, just a better product in some way)

i think theyll make it on par graphically with the other next gen systems. i dont think theyll go wild with it though.

Another thing I haven't seen mentioned yet. They decided to not go HD because HD tv adoption rates just weren't where Nintendo thought it was worth venturing into just yet. I believe Iwata already went on the record saying that, and that next generation they will have an HD console of some kind.

Plus the specs required for HD will cost a lot less.

I think.. Nintendo will make none of what you are saying, and they will scare the shit out of us just like they did this gen, they have a couple of genius on their desks is natural for them to do the unexpected even if it doesnt bring money to the table...

Still, im 100% sure im getting the N6 plus a 150$ slim ps3 (god bless sony liquidations)

-The word "Wii" is not going to be on the name, but a monosilable is still viable
-Nintendo might release their console a tad earlier just for the win
-The N6 is going to have amazing online gameplay and interface
-The wiimote will be perfected as well as the nunchuk, the classic controller, and the wii zapper
-N6 wont have retro compatibility (is it spelled like this?)
-N6 wont sell as well as the Wii, i can see the next generation being more equilibrated i cant possibly see Sony and Microsoft staying with the "hardcore" much longer, but i cant picture them doing anything revolutianary either.

well its hard to tell when we don't know what microsoft and sony are going to be releasing, but as of right now i would say no

it will be close in terms of graphical capability but they will not try and have the most graphically advanced console of the three....just enough to make sure alot of the games that people say can't be on wii will be on the nintendo next gen console, but not so high as to make the system alot of money
