if the companies think specs matter, so they make their games for systems with higher specs, then specs do matter.

That's a circular argument.

You can still make spectacular games on the Wii, at less cost. Developers just got this dumbass idea that the spectacular games they made in the 6th gen somehow aren't spectacular anymore.



A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
