I know this probably doesn't make sense to most of you but Ramadaan is when Muslims fast- no food or drink from sunrise to sunset. I was just wondering if anyone else on these forums has been fasting, and if so, how have you been finding them and how many have u missed...

I've missed one fast as I was ill and had to take medicine... anyway what about you lot...?

If any other users wanna know more about ramadaan just ask on this thread...

Yea, I fast and so far its been pretty good. I missed a couple but ill try to make them up. Fasting is usually pretty easy unless you have nothing to do then all you think about is food.

The fast is intended to be an exacting act of deep personal worship in which Muslims seek a raised level of closeness to God. The act of fasting is said to redirect the heart away from worldly activities, its purpose being to cleanse the inner soul and free it from harm. Properly observing the fast is supposed to induce a comfortable feeling of peace and calm. It also allows Muslims to practise self-discipline, sacrifice, and sympathy for those who are less fortunate, intended to make Muslims more generous and charitable.

Unfortunately I can't fast alot because I get sick easily but I have been trying to do a couple of days a week.

I fast as well, and for the same reasons. But Im a Christian.

I'm a Muslim, however, I don't fast. I only follow one passage in the entire Qur'an as I see it as the only real rule God wants us to follow. Bold parts are most important.

"Surely those who believe, and those who are Jews, and the Christians, and the Sabians, whoever believes in The God and the Last day and does good, they shall have their reward from their Lord, and there is no fear for them, nor shall they grieve." Q-002.062

 Basically, it doesn't matter what you call yourself. Believe in God and be good to everyone. Its just that simple.
