The Standart Wii would be able to outsell the X720 and PS4 even for a few months or maybe an entire first year of launch of these systems.

Nintendo is making a shitload of money with their console, they won't throw out a console just for the sake of being HD, because that is proven to be not the right strategy.

They will release a new console when they can sell a machine more powerfull than PS3 for maybe ~220$ and having profit on it. Not losses.

Xmas 2012 is my prediction. Till there we will se a Wii Plus, kind of DSi and DS Lite.

Michael Pachter? C'mon, every 5 or 6 months he comes with the same unrealistic bullshit. I will never understand why people keep posting whatever Pachter says or predicts, it's an absolutely mystery.

In 2010, Sony’s going to have 55%, Microsoft’s going to have 35% and Nintendo 10%, with all three of those having plus or minus 5%.


I don’t think there are four million people in the world who really want to play online games every month. World of Warcraft is such an exception. I frankly think it’s the buzz factor, and eventually it will come back to the mean, maybe a million subscribers.


We remain convinced that EA will prevail in its bid for Take-Two. We envision a scenario whereby EA receives FTC approval for the combination some time in the next two months, and expect EA to make a last ditch effort to complete a deal by September.


The next Final Fantasy to appear on PlayStation 3 exclusively.
The series has always been single console and given the Xbox 360 sell through in Japan, it would be hard to put the next Final Fantasy instalment on the 360 only


I think we’ve seen the last generation of consoles… [Third party publishers] are not going to support a PS4 or Xbox 720.

i'd be there the first day, thrid part games are getting far to good to be missing out on because of lack of power. It's going to get to the point when the only multi plats the wii gets are movie games and they all suck already.

As far as I've seen, the predictions he gets right are pretty small stuff, like "GTA4 will get delayed"... The important stuff like how the market will be in a few years always fails.

Feel free to prove me wrong though.

wii hd doesn't make since becuase vanilla wii is alrady "good enough" for the market. what the hd consoles have are just expensive features few people care about.

Last year's game of the year turned out to be Silent Hill : Shattered Memories (online GOTY was COD 6).  This year's GOTY leader to me is Heavy Rain.

It would probably not be a good thing for the console market, fragmenting the audiences and developer attention too early. So there are good reasons for not wanting this to happen.

i'll just add to this thread that i dearly hope that this console generation lasts as long as humanly possible. i won't buy a game again for crappy launch titles. i wanna get the most bang for my console that cost me a half dozen games.
