Forums - Nintendo - Carmack on Iphone: "I could do some mind-blowingly cool stuff on there".

What about the wii? Why is Carmack so interested in developing games for an "underpowered" system, when he simply does not want to do something for another "underpowered" system(which happens to be more powerful than the "underpowered" system he's working on now). If he could do "mind-blowinglly cool stuff" with a iphone and 1gb, what about the wii with 8.5gb? I would love to see Carmack max the wii. But is it ever going to happen?

he knows it'll sell well on iphone, and he's not confident enough about the wii, like mark rein

His wife runs the mobile division of id...so now you know.

it's id. I'm pretty sure they're not even aware that Nintendo still makes home consoles. They haven't done anything for 'em for over a decade.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

he never forgave Nintendo for what it did to his Wolfenstein 3D.

Fine

Everyone thinks the iPhone is "kewl" right now.

Of course, two years from now, when people sign up for new contracts, it will be passe'.

Basically, programming under constraints is seen as a challenge. Programming with resources considered to be outdated is not seen as such.

I don't necessarily agree with them -- but genius is as genius does.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

I'm so tired of hearing how these developers won't make games for the Wii. They had no problem developing for consoles last generation, and the Wii is obviously more powerful than them.
