Forums - Gaming - Bungie's new IP doesn't have a publisher yet

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/new-bungie-ip-deal-close

Bungie has revealed that the secret, non-Halo game it's working on is still not signed to a publisher - but suggested a deal is "close".

Asked whether a publishing partner had been secured for the new game, Bungie's Lars Bakken told Eurogamer: "I think internally we'll know sometime soon. I don't handle these things, but I'd imagine we're going to know way before we make the public announcement of who's handling that! But sure, I think those talks are, I guess, close."

Nothing is known of the project, which the studio has been working on for some time, although we wouldn't be amazed if it involved men running around with large guns shooting things.

After splitting from Microsoft and going indie in late 2007, the studio has been free to work with other publishers and on other platforms, but has thus far been busying itself with Halo 3, the imminent Halo: ODST and, announced at E3, Halo: Reach.

As luck would have it, we've got a brand new hands-on preview with ODST for you today, and the full interview with Bungie and Microsoft can be seen over on Eurogamer TV.

Halo 3: ODST hits Xbox 360 on 22nd September.

I thought they had some deal with MS for publishing rights, let's just hope they get a good publisher

PS3 should get a piece of those Bungie nerds talents.

Yeah, I'm surprised Microsoft's not publishing it.

Really curious to see what sort of non-Halo thing they have come up with!

They should throw the world a curveball and make it for DS, though likely it'll be 360-exclusive.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Why would they want their own game to flop ?

Lol just imagine the irony if Sony turned out to be the publisher and it was a PS3 exclusive.  Anyway I can't wait to see what kind of game this is.

I'd laugh. I highly doubt Sony would be able to do that.

I'm sure Microsoft will pony up the cash to keep Sony out of the loop.

If I recall the deal correctly, Microsoft has the rights to first refusal on any publishing deal for some set amount of time, post divestiture.  SO I would guess they are hammering out the details with Bungie.

Say something funny now...your comments always crack me up!

Would be a tragic mistake. As we see every day, Sony fans recognize Bungie as the minimally talented developers of shitty games that they are. PC gamers are also hip to this. It's only Xbox fans who have been tricked by these clowns, so 360 exclusive is the only way to go.
