A Halo TV show?

It could work as long as it's about Masterchief and/or they don't decide to leave him out.

I saw some funny news about this......apparantly the anime is coming to Blu-ray! Hey Bill Gates, are you going to make sure that your competitors profit from all of your franchises or just your biggest?

Microsoft doesn't make any optical drives. Besides they will still be making money when they buy it. Just look at all the Windows products available for apple computers.

thats not the point matt.......MS made a big deal about supporting HD-DVD b/c it was the best technology and had the most promise. Now they support a competitors product and are eating some crow. It's only fair that I point out the irony.

Not really, if they wanted to support it they would have had it built in. They only supported it because they are strong relationship with Toshiba. They've always said that Digital Distribution is the future. Also, WB is distributing the movies and they decide which formats it'll be available on.

and just about every desktop will have a Blu-ray drive soon. So, you are correct that MS has been dominant within the PC indusry for a long time, but realize that Sony will have a piece of the pie soon as well and that's just from collecting royalties, not something that they have to really spend a lot of assets on things like production operations etc. Easy money for the good guys.

They don't get a lot from royalties since you only have to pay a one time fee to manufacture them, also their are more companies involved in making the blu ray drive

The get royalties from the number of BD discs sold as well as having a small part of the drive fees.

Right now, it's about 30 cents per title. It might not sound like a whole lot, but MS sells over a million discs each week. So, if these numbers hold up Sony could get over 15 million in the course of a year from MS. I hope that the Wii HD would have Blu-ray as well, but that might be for the generation after next and i'll have to wait. Either way, Sony is going to get a major stream of revenue, revenue that it won't have to do much work for so the profit margin on this will be pretty big, that it didn't have before and it is getting this money from a competitor. So sony's gain is really MS's loss.
