Maybe they're selling well because the PSN download of FF VII brought more people into the cult?

Really? Then send me a link so I can buy those brand factory sealed SNES and N64 games so I can sell it back on ebay and make a ton of money. Seriously, your statement doesnt make any sense. Do you have any idea of the cost of a production line in the industry? That would cost way too much to produce a marginal number of copies of those games (with their case, instruction booklet and label) vs the profit they can have with their sales. That's why companies are starting to sell these games via PSN or VC. And if I brought the DQ9 amazon reviews it was to show that you're a very naive person. BTW I didnt see any new copies of FFVIII in a local store since the beginning of the years 2000. |
Come on now, games get re-printed all the time. I just got a brand new, factory sealed copy of Persona 2 (PS1) less than a year ago. These get reprinted every once in a while.
And mentioning the only alternative source of user feedback does not make me naive. No where have I mentioned that they are right and Famitsu is wrong, or that I even think they're legtimate. Just giving all resources.

You didnt answer my question.
Your factory sealed copy of Persona 2 was probably just an old unsold copie.
As for your ''only alternative source of user feedback'' that's BS and you know it. Since when can we take seriously reviews of people who didnt play the game?
I got a SNES about 3 years ago by called Nintendo. They sent me one in a box, but I would assume that it a refurb.
My Persona 2 copy was not a old unsold copy. Atlus sent out an email saying that they had a limited reprint of the game only for Amazon. The game went for well over $100 brand new from ebay sellers. Reprints do happen and older games do get reprinted.
As far as DQ9 goes, you can't assume all 800+ didn't play the game. Looking at recent reviews, they're still mixed.
They're still mixed.

Still waiting for your link...
Anyway,
1- Do you really think Nintendo are still manufacturing SNES? If no, what's the point?
2- Where did you buy your Persona 2 copy? And why Atlus would send you an email explaining that?
3- Do you really believe that a game which the only official review gave it a perfect score can be considered that bad? The game just released only a week ago and is 80+ hours of gameplay. Out of those who bought the game, everyone would be currently busy playing the game, except those trolls. Those 800+ bad reviews must probably some japanese PSP fanboys.
1. I don't have a link. I literally called Nintendo's Customer Service to see how I could a SNES since I wasn't into gaming when it released.
2. I am apart of the Atlus Faithful and they were letting the Faithful know that they was going to be a limited reprint of the game exclusively for Amazon.com
3. While I certainly a lot of bad reviews are fanboy reviews, the case in the same for nearly every other game on Amazon. And what do you think about the 258 people who gave the game a 4/5 or higher? Are they just DS fanboys?
And lastly, do you honestly think it'll take 80 hours to beat Dragon Quest IX?

2- Even IF they are indeed reprints (and not old unsold manufactured copies), does that mean that FFVIII, FFIX, FF Chronicles, FF Origins and Chrono Cross are still manufactured?
3- Just go take a look at some reviews of people who HAVE played the game on google, you will have a better idea. And yes it can certainly take 80 hours to complete the game with all the sidequests and I'm not even talking about online extras. DQVIII took me more than this so I don't see why this couldnt be the same for DQIX. Oh and do you think Famitsu is a DS fanboy?
It may seem odd, but those Square-enix games are still being produced with playstation cases and all. I recently bought Chrono Cross a few months back and oddly enough it has "Square-enix" on the cover so either Square-enix became so powerful that they went back in time and merged before all those games were made or they're still being made. Well up until recently anyways. Note a few other greatest hits can still be ordered; I picked up a sealed Legend of Dragoon as well and asked the guy from the game store if they can still be ordered and he said yes. And while I was working at EB those said games would randomly show up.

Square-enix merged in 2003. By the way, welcome to VGChartz!

2. Well, I have reason to believe that some of the copies are from the occasional reprint. This is straight from Amazon, and a game that came out well before Square Enix was formed.

3. Yes, it might take 80 hours to do all the extra side stuff, but I really don't care about all of that. It most likely will not take me any longer than 35-40 hours to just play the main story which is all you have to play in order to review the product. And no, I do not think Famitsu is full of DS fanboys.
