Forums - Nintendo - Potentially stupid question about Wiimotes.

Jesus Christ!!! I've had my Wii for over a year and never realized there was a red sync button. That could have save me a lot of time when friends would come over.

Just reading a manual would have helped.

It took forever to figure out how to sync the Wiimotes when the Wii first came out. We refused to read the manual btw.

Never! I just start plugging things and if it works, it works. :)

Ok, you're on the verge of starting a class war. From now on, all of us nerds who actually read manuals should respond to such pleas for help with a simple "RTFM".

That Remote Connection screen is only for when you take your remote to a friends house to play on a different console. Never use the red sync button on a Wii other than your own. When I've taken my Wiimotes to other places that's how they connect and then when I'm back home, they still operate my console just fine.

Consoles owned: NES, N64, PS1, GC, PS2, Wii.

Ah yes, good one.

I am not certain on this (I would have to read the instructions ) but I don't think the Wii remote can be "hard synced" to more than 1 console at once. So Sync your own remote with your own console using the red button, then you can operate it with any of them. (And use the remote connection screen if you want to swap player position)

And if you take a remote to another house, the Wii needs to be turned on by one of it's remotes, then you can connect yours using the remote connection screen.
