I believe Sony want this to be just right (as with all their other exclusives) but after the ghostbusters fiasco we can't ignore that this might be another waste of money.

What fiasco? I got the PS3 version of the game. Besides it wasn't paid for by them, it was created by another developer with a different publisher.

They decided to publish the game on the PS3 only and while that might not be their fault, I'm sure Ninty and MS wouldn't want any game on their machine being published by a rival, they have to pick the cost of publishing and distributing it only in one region.

With the other formats being delayed it looks like a big mess all round and they might have been better of staying out of it.

Imo a waste of their time and money. The game would have been released without them.

That said I have it on the 360, bought on import, and it is funny seeing the sony logo come up before the game starts.

Demon Souls and maybe Uncharted 2 are the only PS3 games I'm really looking forward to this year anyway, with Heavy Rain a likely purchase next year.

Yes, poor PS3 gamers that don't know Japanese. Their holiday lineup is screwed.

Dude...nobody here is going to be playing XIII for a while, except maybe you. It's a completely meaningless bullet point, when you claim it releases this year, to most people who read these forums.

Listing it is a desperation move, because people are going to list it next year too....but whatever.

Also, while I admire your optimism about Uncharted 2, I'd rather have 4 huge games than 1.

Err are those four games: Whorza 3, Halo Warts, Halo: O-STD, and Splatter Cell: Abortion?

Halo Warts released in February. No, the fourth game is Left 4 Dread (of your condom breaking) 2.

Actually its called Left Th3 Head, its about a group of 3 leppers on their last days cruising the strip joints and brothels.

For next year the big early games are:

Alan Waist: About a fat guy who breaks into a supermarket at night and has to avoid the guards whilst snacking on all the food.

Mass Effect: About John the Shepherd whos trying to fatten his flock of sheep amongst an alien conspiracy which threatens to destroy the galaxy.

Tease.

Hmmm, not sure what people class as major exclusives. Isn't demon Souls from From Software? And hasn't the reception of Previews been similar to Ninja Blade?

I understand that you probably don't follow PS3 games that closely, but what in the world gave you this idea? Demon's Souls is probably the most hype-worthy game the ps3 has coming out this fall, save for the possibility of GT5. It obviously won't move systems, but no ps3 exclusive except GT5 will. Considering this thread is most likely about quality exclusive holiday releases, Demon's Souls fits the bill nicely. The fact that some users are dismissing it altogether makes me think the only thing they know about it is that From Software makes it, so they've already written it off as crap.

M.A.G. is an unproven IP and concept. I don't see it being a system seller. Normally no one would even care this got delayed a couples months it's only because so little has otherwise been announced that it even matters to people.

Sony put themselves in a tough spot with their cell processor. Sure it's powerful but it's a bitch and hence 'Delay-station 3'. Would it be better to release the game unpolished for the holidays to pad the line-up? I don't think so.

At this point I think Sony might as well just hold the line on price for all of '09, hopefully see some profit and really use GT5, FFVS, MAG, etc, and a price cut, slim model, colours, etc to create momentum in '10. Like a virtual system relaunch. In that case, the more compelling content in '10 the better. Kinda like Nintendo delaying Zelda:TP for Wii's launch.

All these "hideous ps3 fanboys" should be ashamed of themselves for all that gloating. I wish we actually had names behind this gloaters lmao.

OT, I never had interest in M.A.G. and smell a bomb. With such low preorders for even MW2 on ps3 relative to 360 in the U.S., I don't think M.A.G will do well. It's best to keep promoting KZ2 which is what I'll keep playing anyway except MW2 is waaaay beyond good ol' cod4.

Since bayonetta was delayed too, I'm only looking forward to Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 and ToV this holiday season. It's kinda funny that they're old 360 games.

Oh you do know the game is out in Japan right?

Famistu 7/7/6/9. about 7/10. And Dengaki Playstation gave it better at 85/95/85/85.

The game will sit somewhere round 80% meta when all is said and done. It will be a good game like Ninja Blade just not regarded as anything special. This is what I mean when I say AAA exclusives is used loosely these days.

Demon Souls is actually more niche than VC. You will see alot of people taking Demon Souls back the next to due to the game being almost inacessible to the majority of players.

"Demon's Souls may well be 2009's Valkyria Chronicles; an impressive, original, fresh new PS3 RPG that ultimately has little impact. While belonging to less a niche genre than VC, the frustrating difficulty is sure to turn off many. Sound and graphics considered, the game is aesthetically a few notches below VC.

An improved online co-op and a simple easy mode would widen the game's audience substantially. As it is, most people will have to suffer many aggravating deaths before they get good enough to really appreciate the game's detailed, gory combat. Boss fights are a special treat, as each one starts off seemingly impossible – you against a giant steel knight or a huge armored spider – but with tenacity, becomes beatable. Demon's Souls is easily the most satisfying PS3 game I have ever played. Yet I know that many will never get over that initial hump, and they'll end up selling the game for store credit to buy Ninja Gaiden Sigma used. Tecmo gives you save points every ten meters and super powerful ninja magic to clear rooms full of enemies if you get stressed. Demon's Souls gives you an ultimatum; get good, or die.

They just don't make many console games like this anymore."

Lol.. yes I know it's out in Japan and several VGCers own the game, myself included. I'm still wondering where you got the idea that Demon's Souls has had a similar reception to Ninja Blade. It's pretty obvious to me that Demon's Souls is the much better game and while it will obviously have little impact, it's definitely worth discussing in a thread about the ps3s holiday lineup. You just can't come in here and move the goal posts, saying we're talking about "AAA exclusives" (whatever that even means). You're even saying that games that get an aggregate average of 80% aren't anything special, so do games have to average 90 or above to be worthy enough to mention? That's absolutely rediculous. It's a niche, new IP WRPG-esque JRPG, i'd say averaging 80 is impressive given the circumstances.

Click the link in my sig to see more reviews, as it has been reviewed by Eurogamer among other outlets. Famitsu has given out some pretty bogus scores to the extent that I don't really don't bother with them, and the person who gave it a 6 from them complained about it being too hard.

The OP is talking about momentum and mentions MAG of all games? GT5 is the only exclusive Sony has that will move ps3s so we might as well forget everything else if we're talking about system sellers.
