Well then the wife unlocked the door, left the car, brought a hitchhiker to the car, had passionate sex, and both died of heart attacks.

The stranger was alive, and that would be really creepy.

Look, I can say "the wife unlocked the door", and even if that's not the "correct" answer there's no logical problem with it. If that isn't the answer, I do not like this riddle because it has more than one answer and no good riddle has more than one answer.

I like riddles more when they play on words and imagery. I'm playing from memory and this is pretty well-known as far as riddles go, but here's one of my favorites:

What can go up a chimney down, but can't go down a chimney up?

Yes you do. These feature a lot in most modern cultures.
