Play N64 games?

I was wondering this while playing Final Fantasy VII on my PSP, and thought... "It would be badass to play Super Mario 64 and Jet Force Gemini on mah DS"

Im not really much into nintendo stuff so i wouldn't know, hence the asking...

So can i play 5th gen "64" nintendo games on the go "DS=N64" like with the PSP = PSOne??

My main reason to question this is because from what i can see, the DS's Maximum graphicial power rivals that of the 64 instead of the gamecube.

Uhh, what, you mean like stick N64 cartridges into it? Seriously?

Maybe through a download service in the future, it's shown that its capable (starting with Mario 64).

No, like Downloadable, i think its called the virtual console for nintendo?

Ya know, like PSN... Data-like games.

Don't go by what I say, I haven't touched my DS for 6 months.

If anything, only the DSi would be able to implement this feature anyway due to it being the only DS with flash based memory capability.

DS (as well as PSP) is unable to provide full-speed N64 emulation. So the answer is no. Super Mario 64 DS is a port. Porting N64 titles to DS is possible without losing quaility, I believe, but Nintendo won't bother.

@Mai- I see, well thats nice that there was a port of it, but what about Jet Force? Was my fave N64 game i think, thats the main one i wanted on the go.

And yeah PSP can do N64 emulation, granted it has slow-downs but atleast it can.

@Ted- O I C, lol welp if its only the DSi then forget it, Lite > i. :D

Yes, the DS easly has the power if not more than the N64. Mai is right though you won't see an emulator. So unless someone starts doing N64 games on the DSWare service. You won't see much N64 games on the DS.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

It has the hardware capability; actually for a properly done port it can look better. SM64 DS looked much better than the original graphically. Diddy Kong Racing DS is another example. I think Metroid Prime Hunters couldn't have been done on the N64 at all.

But there is no way to play arbitrary games because Nintendo hasn't created a VC for the DS yet. And if they did it would [this is me speculating] be for GB, GBC and GBA games only to not overlap with the Wii market.
