Forums - PC - RE5 Benchmark tool + BDSM Chris

Capcom has released a benchmark tool for the upcoming RE5 PC version, you can download it at the N-Zone website:

http://download.nvidia.com/downloads/nZone/demos/nzd_ResidentEvil5_Benchmark.exe (600 MB!)

It was also announced that the game will include new costumes for Chris and Sheva and a new mercenaries mode with 3x enemies

Here's Chris:

I ran it here and it's obviously more demanding than SFIV. I thought it was interesting that the cutscenes were laggier than the gameplay demo. Also, the two are extremely dumb and Chris consistently forgets to look behind him lol. I have an 8600GT with 256 MB, tried with 1680x1050, and even with the settings on medium I couldn't get more than 30 FPS. The average was in the low 20's and the tool gave me a C. However, it didn't seem to hurt the experience a lot. I'll check lower resolutions later.

BDSM Chris...I've seen one before. Albeit a lot naughtier.

Let's benchmark this baby!

Edit: omg 600MB...30 minutes to go >.<

I'll try it maybe...

I'll be running DX 10 and let you know how it runs on:

AMD Phenom X4 9750

eVGA 8800GT

4GB DDR2 800

Hmm, I do want to see how the game would run on my PC though. I might even grab that SF4 benchmark tool as well.

I went to the rental store and apparently some people have the only two copies of RE5 out longer than they should so the store currently doesn't even have the game cases on the shelves.

Should have sprung for RE5 rather than Infamous a few weeks ago, lol. I know I didn't care all that much for RE4 and the RE5 demo, but I'd at least like to play through it.

My results:

1280x720 (oops, not 16:10)

8xAA

Motion Blur On

Fixed benchmark

Average FPS: 48.9

1920x1200

8xAA

Motion Blur On

Fixed benchmark

Average FPS: 33.7

Seems like this game is optimized very well given that my second test was basically max settings and this isn't a high end machine anymore.

you should try the variable benchmark, as it shows gameplay and is also more "dynamic". it will still be OK on your PC, but I think it's a better benchmark.

I lowered the res. to 1280x720 (and 800) and it ran much better with everything high (but still AA and blur off, I don't like motion blur anyway)

Exactly, motion blur can ruin screenshots.

I've had so many amazing screenshot worthy death cams in Team Fortress 2 ruined from motion blur. Not anymore!

Just tried Variable at:

1920x1200

8xAA

Motion Blur On (I like it )

Average FPS: 29.5

Still VERY playable and it's absolutely gorgeous at this res with 8xAA. Skin textures are the best I've ever seen.

Would be interesting if PC gaming wasn't dead (too me).
