Killzone 2 aint Wii Fit.

Well it did just get nominated for GOTY for G4TV's awards http://g4tv.com/gphoria2009/index.html?cat=89 Regardless if it wins or not, they should re-release it in a special edition with all the DLC and latest software updates on the disc. In the meantime they should continue to bundle copies of the standard version to clear out stock. If done right I still think the game could hit 3M in lifetime sales and build hype for the inevitable sequel.

I think the controls may have turned off a decent amount of gamers (why else did the game have no legs whatsoever, after such a huge opening - people just weren't captivated by the game like CoD), and I think the fact that all current copies of the game sold STILL have the original controls, thus anybody without an internet connection are forced to play with those controls, could be hindering sales even further. I think re-releasing the game will help get the game in the eye of the public yet again (just a little advertising at GS will do the trick), and any new owners will be playing (and showing to their friends, etc.) the latest and best version of the game. Since this would be happening around the launch of the slim and a price cut, the game could catch on with new ps3 buyers. |
Another first week! It makes excellent logic! (I don't want to mess with Nordlead and his protection).
In fact, they should release it every two weeks, so it can go first week, second week, first week, second week, and it will hit 10 million for sure! Wow, CrazzyMan is a prophet! (not to be confused with profit)
People should just accept this game for what it is. From the very beginning it had a very negative vibe going for it because of the cgi trailer, and the fact that the first game was pretty much garbage that only had the "Halo Killer" tag going for it. I thought it was decent, but the few people that I personally know that have tried it deleted the demo before even finishing it.
It just doesn't have the X factor that makes a truly great shooter. Sony might have wanted this to be their flagship shooter, but that isn't up to them. It's up to gamers, and they have spoken.
GotY edition with all the DLC sounds good.
If they can make a CM that's as good as this, I think it'll sell:

Sounds a good idea but they second hand market is good for this game.
You can buy Killzone 2 second hand in the UK for 20 GPB. Thats just 30 USD.
Any GOTY edition would have to be competitively priced. Maybe just a classic rebox and try to scoop up more sales that way.

I'm not expecting Killzone 2 to sell like a new game at all especially, as you said, against newer games such as MW2. However you can't deny that Killzone 2 GotY won't bump up sales and that it'll be better than not having anything at all.

Kz2 doesn't need a re-release. It won't bump sales enough to justify such expenses. Word of mouth is all it can rely on now. that's what sold cod4
"Dr. Tenma, according to you, lives are equal. That's why I live today. But you must have realised it by now...the only thing people are equal in is death"---Johann Liebert (MONSTER)
"WAR is a racket. It always has been.
It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives"---Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler
I am astounded that nobody in this thread highlighted the most singular flaw of this logic, and that would be too soon. Releasing a new edition of this game in less then a year well probably less then nine months would establish a highly dangerous precedent. You do not want consumers deferring purchases thinking that a better, cheaper, and larger version is nine months away. You do not want to sideline consumers.
This would be a bad precedent in good times, and right now given the market it would be damned stupid. You can't be scaring consumers into doubting the merits of buying your products. You know the saying is true once burned twice shy. You only need to shaft early adopters once, and frankly Sony paid for doing that with the consoles price. They really cannot even let people get the notion that this is their standard operating procedure.
This is a very bad idea.
This suggestion lacks good reasoning, it would probably cost them more than it would make them to do something like this. Games which sell twice as much as this game often don't get re-releases so really it doesn't make sense. 1.7M is good but its not substantial enough to warrant the investment.
Tease.
