Congrats Spain!
Crap!
Well, gratz to Spain...
In my humble orange view the Spanish were better than the Dutch who simply tried to prevent Spain from playing their game. Luckily De Jong got away with a yellow card but other than that the ref was slightly favoring Spain which somewhat influenced the game. Although Spain was the better team it is hard to lose in the last few minutes by a dubious goal. (off side prior to the assist)
Oh well, maybe in thirty years we get another shot... It was fun while it lasted.
Congratulations to Spain, they were the better side last night.

I don't really understand how any dutch can blame the referee. Netherlands should have been with 9 players at the end of the first half, so please. Are you proud of the way your team played?

Credit to Alonso. Any other Spain player would still be rolling around this time next week. Thankfully, Alonso is a lot tougher than the rest of them and just got up and on with the job....outstanding player.

Oh yeah, Alonso is really a great sport, managed to foul Lampard and then get him sent off

I actually enjoyed this world cup a lot, but I didn't really take the same interest in previous world cups, mostly because I had so much free time I could watch every match

I was more refering to how he doesn't dive excessivly. Also I could argue Lampard had his stoods showing which is an automatic yellow card

So Lampard is not allowed to kick a ball in the air? Alonso should be booked for a late challenge

I totally agree, Forlan outshone Rooney, Kaka, Ronaldo all the players who were supposedly going to light up this world cup. Well done Diego

Funny that you mention those 3 sports company commercial and videogame cover stars (you can add Messi and Ribéry to this group of players who seemed to be more occupied before and during the WC with their public image than with their performance), but not Iniesta, who was already a superstar before this WC either, but unlike the other superstars actually played as well as many hoped/expected and decided (not only) the final. Iniesta withstood the pressure, led his team and this makes him my personal #1 at this WC.
Forlan was not better than Iniesta imo, but as I already said earlier, I can agree with Forlan for Golden Ball.
I think it was a proportional decision anyway, as in the end all 4 players with 5 goals got some sort of recognition: Villa and Sneijder got the Silver and Bronze Ball, Müller got "Best Young Player" in addition to the Golden Boot.
