Paul the Octopus is attracted to yellow.....hence he goes for German wins most times, EXCEPT when Spain play, they have more yellow in their flag than Germany resulting in him picking Spain. Not sure why "it" pciked Serbia though.

It was just a theory. I can't see anyone else coming up with decent reasons unless you all think that Paul the Octopus has really really good footballing knowledge.

Pure luck, or one of Paul's owners is actually the one who predicts and sends signals to Paul (consciously or subconsciously).

At first I thought it was pure luck but then someone (could have being yourself) said there was a 5% chance of that happening. So that more or less says thats not realistic. As for your second point, potentially, I guess we will never know.

If there's 5% chances of something happen, it'll happen every now and then. It's actually just a little over 1,5% for 6 games, but still, it's a world cup. There are hundreds, maybe thousands of people doing crazy things related to the games. 1,5%, or even 0,4% if he get's the last two games right, is by no means "unrealistic".

There's a lottery here in Brazil in wich you have only about 1 chance in 50 million to win, and still there are winners all the time. You can't just look at a percentage by itself and say "that's too low".

That's not to say there couldn't be another explanation, tho.
