@ Captain preferences: I agree.

The Liverpool I saw play tonight were not the winners I saw play week in week out last season. No, tonight they looked like a bunch of players on the border of desperation. They need to get it sorted out and quickly otherwise they can forget about Europe altogether.

I think the desperation is what lead Ngog to dive.

The players looked beaten down and lacked morale. It's not their fault, they are usually very good. I think that since Aston Villa beat them Benitez has come down hard on them and all it has done is sap their morale instead of making them work.

Before tonight I thought that it was just a bad spell, but now it is clear to me. Benitez has come down too hard on them and caused them to lose all morale and hope. The logical step is to lose him, I know it's harsh, but it's true.

I support this statement.

Video replay isn't needed... I don't want this game to be turned into hockey.

A referee consulting his linesman more often will prevent questionable calls. I guarantee it. Referees assume controversial descisions, and rarley talk to their assistant about the call.

did you watch the same game? lol

they had about 30 shots... how is that downbeaten and low on morale?

they played with a desire to win no question.

That supports my point though. They made 4 times more successful passes than Birmingham, they had 26 shots and yet they still struggled to get a draw. It's been happening for weeks.

They should have been converting those chances. If I took the exact same team from this time last season and put them against blues tonight it would have been 4-1 to Liverpool. It's not just Birmingham, I think this has been happening for weeks. Look at Sunderland, all beachballs aside, Liverpool failed to score once, despite having many good chances against a mediocre team.

I think Benitez has beat the confidence out of them and that explains the form. Regardless of recent injuries and suspensions, I still think they have just been throwing away good chances.

Birmingham are a poor team and half a Liverpool first team and a few reserves should still be running rings around them.

Players bitching against the referee right before the penalty is taken takes up 3 minutes, the linesman could have checked the replay by then.

i listened to the game....sounded like liverpool were on top obviously, but still needed the ref to get point......

but a big NO to video replay,no point......because then they will want it for everything and the next thing you know it's not football anymore, with advert breaks everywhere...

LEAVE it to the ref,i think it's very english and old fashioned to have a billion pound sport basically reffed by some part time bloke.....haha....its human, swings and roundabouts...etc,no need to change anything......apart from letting defendrs actually tackle again

we got a real battle on for fourth this year......top three is sorted i think.....

and i can't wait until fabregas goes back to spain, surely he will soon....

Even if the linesman checked the replay, the ref would still have to take a look at it and discuss it with his assistant which would take 5 minutes.

I love football.

You can still have some restrictions on the use of video replay.
Only to be used for penalties and red cards? Or something like that.
