Dunno much but make sure you have enough ram because it uses more than XP
I'm not sure if upgrading from a 32-bit OS to a 64-bit one is possible, you're probably limited to the 32-bit one.
But, all you really need to do is download the ISO of the OS from Microsoft, burn it to a DVD, and run it. They recommend backing up your files and stuff before doing so, though I haven't heard of anyone having any data loss after upgrading.
Though, I upgraded from Pissta, but I assume it works just as fine from XP.
gah 64bit version i recommend having 4GB minimum.
and a good dualcore X64 compatible CPU.
use the tool to know if your hardware is compatible.
hardware drivers 64bit take a while to be released sometimes.
I have an intel core i7 and 6 gig of ram, so i really need the 64bit, anyone know how to upgrade it? my stupid dad managed to un upgrade it to use the printer!

I think you have to do a fresh install of the OS.
Ok here is how you do it, in order to install 64 bit over 32 bit, you need to do what ius called a Clean Install, basically it just reformats your hard drive and installs fresh, so make sure all your important data is backed up.
Insert the OS disc and when it says perform upgrade or custom install, chose custom, the rest should be pretty straight forward.
Unless you reformat your hard drive/partition, it'll move everything you had into a folder called 'windows.old'. It should also install a boot loader so you should still be able to launch Windows XP if you select the "launch older version of windows" (or something similar) option.
I haven't tried the 64-bit version of Windows 7 yet since my hardware isn't really worth using a 64-bit OS. The 'windows.old' folder Windows 7 saved me when I accidently screwed up the booting for XP before I had finished backing things up before a reformat, lol.

First you cant upgrade from xp to 7, only vista to 7. *Back up any file or folder you want to keep*
download the Rc or a leaked build such as 7600.16385 ( note this build cannot use the rc keys)
Either burn the iso or place the files inside the iso in a flash drive ( at least 4gb) . you can extract the files with winrar.

use this to make the flsh drive bootable.
now place the dvd or flsh drive in the computer.
restart your computer and selct the boot menu from the bios, this can be doen by pressing f8 -f12, mine is f8.
select your dvd drive or flash drive.
let it load. now you have to click custom and click on advanced options. Make sure you format your hard drive, this will erase all your data.
if you do it from the flash drive it should finish in 15 minutes, dvd about 25-30 minutes.
now you will have windows 7 x64, restore your fils and install your apps.
hope this helps
1. Burn Win7 64 bit ISO to DVDR
2. back up all your files
3. boot from disc, it should do the rest
