| madskillz said: You rang? Yeah - I have been all over N.O. - Garden District, Metarie, Gentilly, 9th Ward, New Orleans East - it was my old stomping grounds. Very, very, very familiar with the area. Visited right after Katrina and hurt me to my heart. That said, of course I know whites are the minority - but my op-ed - and that's all it was - was about an undertone. What's an undertone? Lawd, not trying to start anything, but an undertone is an undercurrent - something folks may or may not see. Did you read that article? Did you see what I said? And that stuff about RE5 - which I have played - was actually brought up by three gamers - all co-workers - and you'll never guess what race they were. Two are white - one is half Asian, half white. And they wholeheartedly endorsed and agreed with my post. I do too. It's my view on it. Honestly, I got a very rare opportunity - to be in the midst of this thread, see your real thoughts about my views. Comeon, folks - keep the party going. Be real - just because it's me, don't stop it. I'm still the same guy who doesn't understand the Civil War - who apparently says L4D2 was racist, as well as RE5. The sheer amount of attention to my opinion is staggering.

Technically speaking, Metairie really isn't part of New Orleans. They like to think of themselves as independant and a seperate city and all that jazz. Mostly this is just white flight in action. Given that you actually listed it as a part of NO I am inclined to believe you must have spent a decent amount of time here. So, you win that round of criticism.
Yes, I have read your original article, and disagree with it on several other points to match. Given you seem to at least reference a lot of my problems in passing I won't bother going into them. It is unlikely you are going to listen to what I have to say, and I have no interest in getting a statement that you disagree and going back and forth for a few pages. I will focus on that one off paragraph for a number of reasons. Mostly because it was such an incredibly bad idea to include a trivial point in your argument and completley under-cuts anything else you try to say.
Any shooter set in NO should have you shooting black people. Thats the high and low of it. There is no 2 ways about this. Walk around the actual city and you will (and have) notice the racial mix. I suppose the one exception to this rule would be a tourist hunting game, and I am all for that being made. Claiming that having several black zombies could be a racist undertone is completely ridiculous though. It is playing the race card in the worst of ways. Pulling stupid shit like that hurts the push to perfect racial equality rather than helping it. If black people become some separate and special race that can't be used like others then they will ALWAYS be viewed differently.
As for RE5, well I can't comment on the game itself. Never really played it. Your comments in the blog though sound incredibly racist as well. Why is it wrong to have black zombies as the enemy? Why does it even matter hmm? I don't care what color the people who agreed with you are. I really just couldn't care less where an opinion comes from. If you want to cry racism at every little turn you are more than welcome to. However, so long as you try to see the races as needing to be treated differently you will never be able to even help realize true racial equality. Maintaining seperate and distinct rule for different categories of people will always hurt the cause. Always.
