Forums - Nintendo - WiiConnect24 ON, or disc out?

If you are that worried about your game discs, then I would just take it out when you are done. That's what I do.

it's no so much the game disc, but more worried about deteriorating something that already seems to be going bad. Responses in this thread has led me to believe that the disc is not spinning with WC24 on, and that it's just general heat from WiFi. Further to this, someone here said that they had to do repairs because the heat took it's toll over time, thus making me want to take it off altogether.

I've had my Wii since launch, with WC24 always on. Never had a problem. O_O

And, yes, the console power button. It puts Wii in the same state as power cord would have been unplugged. Turning WiiConnect24 off, until you turn the console back on (if it's set on).

It's not the Wi-Fi heat, but GPU heat. When WiiConnect24 is on, Wii appears to run the GPU to process the data. That's why it's the GPU that gets damaged.
